I could've swore you wanted him....especially when Boston got in on it. I'm glad Yanks didn't get him, yeah we need pitching but Twins wanted a king ransom for him. Lets see how this works out for the METS.

You have to be kidding if you don't think the Yankees or Sox wanted him. The Yankees want every big time player on their roster. When it comes to baseball Mr D and myself don't generally agree so if we do it's like earth shattering. Had the Yankees and Twis pulled the trigger every Yankee fan would be singing the praises of the Stein Clan. Johnny is the only one that is willing to admit he wanted the best pitcher in baseball.

The thing is that the Mets didn't have to give up a kings ransom to get him. I would have liked to keep Guerra but instead we got to keep F Mart and Reyes so even if Santana is better than average it's a win for the Mets because they didn't give up the farm to land him.

I love how he's classy just because he's disappointed in the Yankees. You're funny, JoeJet.

ok so on one hand the yankees never wanted him...neverwanted him according to you.....but on the other hand....the yankees dropped out of it TODAY.........makes sense...either way, all im saying is I would have liked to have had him...a bird in the hand.....maybe thats my win now yankee upbringing.......and like I said, I hope you guys are right....you, alio, ollie and the others who would rather have hughes and kennedy.

i can honestly say i would rather have kept phil hughes and ian kennedy since they are making next to nothing and they are fan favorites already. i would like santana on the yankees, but not for the price the twins were asking and a 150 mill contract.

I wanted Santana at first, but I'm glad we backed off. I was willing to give up Kennedy along with some other prospects, but I wasn't willing to give up Hughes.

From a talent perspective, giving up Hughes and others might be a fair deal, but from a salary perspective, it's not even close.

I think that the NYY would have loved to have Santana..However they did not want to sell out the future like they have in the past. IMO, The Twins got fucked. And they settled for a trade. They tried to extort more from the Yankees and Red Sox and got screwed.

Wow what a steal. The Mets really cashed in on Smith's stupidity. I'm glad the Yankees get to keep their prospects and Minnesota got raped.

Did you just compare Johan to Benson???

First of all Benson got us John Maine and the prospects we gave up suck and he's not on the team anymore.

But this was a good trade today, no one can deny that.

P.S. this thread is about the mets getting Santana, no disrespect but you yankees fans can talk about how much you love Phil Huges in another thread
