I have no idea about this guy other than the fact that people on this board seem to like him, so my question is can he possible play NT? Does he have the skill set for the position or is better suited to a 3-4 DE or 4-3 DT/NT? At 6'4 that's a little tall for the position, but I feel like he could easily put on another 10-15 lbs and get to 325 or 330, which would be great size for the position. Thoughts?
Guy has same build & potential as ...Richard Seymour. He would fit in great as a DE to start ....IMO. He could get about 10-15 plays a game ...before he becomes a starter. This guy has has size/speed/power ratio that he will have to be accounted for every play.
Right now, I think Simms would be our guy if we were drafting today. We have to give Ellis a look though.
He's a round two pick as of now? i know that could change but what is the order for dt after Dorsey and Ellis, Balmer, Moore and Simms or Moore Balmer Simms etc
I like Simms better than Balmer or Moore. The safest pick might be Balmer because he has gotten in the least trouble of the 3.
Moore and Balmer are much better in a 2 gap system than Sims looks to be. Balmer actually reminds me alot of Richard Seymuor. He's a very strong and stout player, but with excellent athleticism and pass rush potential. One of the things he's praised for is his technique and multiple pass rush moves. I wonder what he'll sound like in interviews, because Seymour was a very articulate and mature prospect. Moore is a bit more of a question mark to me. I saw a few games and caught the Senior Bowl practices where he looked very good. From what I saw of him in the regular season, he has the physical potential to be anything he wants in any scheme. He can bull rush the hell out of something, but he doesn't have many (if any) moves after that. Moore is expected to be yet another Maryland freak. The thing that sets this coaching staff apart IMO is that they really value the interview process of the draft, and they find heady players who are also good athletes. I love Moore's potential as a football player, but I trust this CS/FO to make the right call on him. I want to know more about Sims though.
I disagree with your assesment about Sims not being as good of a two gap prosepects as the others. Yes, Sims can rush the passer but the guy is incredible vs the run as well. A very powerful young man with a lot of ability. I think he's a mid first round selection though based on talent and potential. He'd make a wonderful 3-4 DE.
Don't know much about him but if he as good as everyone say i dont want to get my hopes up as he might move up the draft
