We might be a little late on our second roudner to nab him, and 6 is way to early, his stock is climbing

Thank God that New England lost their pick at the end of the 1st round, this is probably a guy they would have taken to replace Nick Kaczur.

I agree, that would be great, but finding trade partners might be tricky depending on who is there

From whatever I heard watching the Senior Bowl, as well as, the blogs regarding the daily practices and the blogs discussing the game after the fact - he had a HUGELY disappointing Senior Bowl Week.

He was beaten soundly by DE's and OLB's that are at best low rated draft picks. His play in space (one on one drills) were said to be even worse.

Mayock even mentioned he dropped out of many scouts Top 5 Offensive Tackle prospects. One went so far to say he playted himself into the low 3rd or 4th round....

If tha tis true this guy is a work in progress and with the glaring hole we have at RT we do not have that luxury - unless addressed in the FA market.

I'd prefer someone a little bit larger than Cherilus, so that we don't get embarrassed at the point of attack like last season. I think he's a solid pass blocker, but I'm not sold on his ability to push the pile in the running game.

BC tends to turn out very good, almost NFL-ready OL.... If this guy drops, and we can nab him in the 3rd or 4th, well that's better for us....

A bad senior-week does not make or break a player, career wise, it can only hurt his draft stock.

A prospect like this is a can't miss for a team in our situation in the 3rd or 4th round

I disagree. For a team like the Jets to pick any OL with the questions that were raised by the experts based on his Senior Bowl Week is too risky. The RT position is a glaring hole for the Jets....Having a player not ready for the NFL at that position is a huge mistake...We went through that with Kendall this year...

Now, if we could obtain a quality veteran presence (32+ years old) to start next year and in '09 to allow someone like this kid to develop behind - especially now with Callhan on the staff - then it would be a win win situation. The kid would be ready to step right in to a starting role in a year or two. I'm not sure which Free agents fit that mold....Sort of like we had when Jumbo Elliott was on the team....

Picking up a 20 something veteran OL in free agency (ie. Sean Locklear - RT Seattle) is the best scenario for a team in our situation. This would allow us to address other needs this year in the draft and then go get a kid in the later rounds NEXT year that in 2 or 3 years would be ready to step right in to a starting role. By that time Locklear (or someone who is now 28 or 29) would be on the down side of his careeer - anyway. That is the philosophy that needs to be taken with every position and every player on a team - that is how a team stays competitive year in and year out.

Stacy Andrews (RT - Cinncianati) would also be a good pick up. He would allow someone to develop behind him now but he also offers the versatity that he could move to guard in a couple of years- allowing the same development process to occur with a OG picked in the '09 or '10. Again, that is the philosophy needed to be a contendor year in and year out...

You have obviously never seen him play. He is projected as a RT because he is an average pass blocker but is a very good run blocker, all of his value comes from his ability to run block.

As for his size, he is around the same size as Jake Long and Chris Williams.

Maybe as a pure LT prospect but not even close as a RT. Gosder has decent feet with ok technique, but is a great run blocker.

Cherilus is just the sort of O-Lineman we need at the RT spot. If we can nab him in the 2nd (I'd say 50/50 shot we can with his disappointing senior bowl), I think he should impress.

I agree if we get Gosder with our second pick that would be ideal and a bargain.

Also with the addition Callahan do you think they have any interest in Carl Nicks, cause he is projected to be picked around early second, give or take.

  19. Yeah, i'm not sure what you guys are so excited about in that video other than his size and reputation. He's def. got alot of tools to work w/...but he has VERY sloppy footwork and overall technique. He also gets pushed around WAY too much for a guy his size.

Really? I heard/read the exact opposite. Good feet , dominates at LoS, big wing span. Good runner blocker. His only downside that I can assertain is that is Pass blocking needs work.
Wow Kurt , you've surprised me there.
