Not sure I like this mock....

I have questions on Sedrick Ellis in the 3-4 as a DT and I cant say I have heard much on the lineman in round 2(Nicks)

Man that stings to see Big Vernon go to NE.

Jabba, I know you know your stuff, but I ask why Ellis over Gholston? Do you see Ellis as a 3-4 NT or DE?

    Thanks Pin

Right now Sedrick Ellis is around 6' 1"/308 .. Senior Bowl measurements

The 6' 1" is fine .. Just look at some of the best NT's in the league and you'll see that 6' 1" is normal

    The 308 I don't love

Ellis is strong, a bull in a china closet, but we'd need to put another 12 Pounds on him and Get him up to 320

12 Pounds in an NFL Program .. that should be doable, no?

As for the value .. IMO Ellis is a Tier 1 Prospect, in that 1st Tier with McFadden, Dorsey and the Long's .. if the board fell this way he would be the last of the Tier 1 Guys in my view, then its the next tier with players like Gholston .. if I'm right about that {and I could be wrong, its JMO}, that would be a pretty wide disparity, we're talking about the difference between TIER 1 and TIER 2 .. in that case I have to take Sedrick Ellis

If we are putting another 12 pounds on ellis why dont we just put another 12 pounds on D-Rob, and while we are at it put another 12 pounds on D'Brick too.

We cannot afford to be taking transformation projects with the 6th pick overall. We made that mistake with D'Brick although hes been a serviceable tackle the last 2 years while being on an island with no LG help.

I like Ellis but not for our system, he's too risky for the 3-4 no matter what Mayock or other experts say... we are in no position to take him with the teams line in the state its in.

first off, nice to see you back. You?re one of the guys who?s stuff i always pay attention to.

i?m not that happy with Ellis, either. Ellis looked great at the Senior Bowl, but i didn?t have him in the top tier before, and until the combine, my top group of guys is C.Long, J.Long, Dorsey and McFadden.

I think Ellis is a better player than Gholston, but the fact, why i don?t like that pick, is DRob. If Ellis can?t adopt to the 34, the way we would wish, we got 2 high drafted 43 DTs, who we can?t use proper. I would hate to have another great player here wo sux because of the system. Gholston would be a perfect fit for our D and he would fill one of the biggest needs. If he becomes the kind of 34OLB Passrusher he?s projected to be, he?ll take our D to the next step.

I just think that the Risk/Reward ratio is on Gholston?s side. A little bit less talent, much less risk.

Sedric Ellis is a terrific player, but is not a NT just as Dorsey isn't a nose tackle. The only question in the top 6 is does Atlanta take QB. I don't think they do. Gholston is the perfect pick for the Jets

If Atlanta doesn't take a QB, Gholston would probaly go 5 to the Raiders, leaving the Jets with Ellis.

Why don't you see Gholston as a tier 1? Is it because he's sometimes on-and-off? I guess you don't think he can be a Merriman/Ware type pass rusher, which some do.

they could use help on DT as well as on DE, and imo Ellis is the better player, every 43 team will probably have Ellis ahead of Gholston. If C.Long, J.Long, McFadden and Dorsey are gone, they?ll probably pick ellis.

That's true, they do need a DT to replace Sapp. For some reason I was thinking they played a 3-4, because they used to. You're right though, they switched back.

I Dont know , If we do land a big time Pass rusher like Terrell Suggs or Dansby theres no need for Gholston but i dont really like taking Sedrick Ellis he's a little to small of a prospect for a thirty four Nose Tackle maybe Defensive end but if we do land suggs or dansby and we bypass on Gholston i wouldnt mind drafting Kenny Phillips the play maker from the U, Throw em in there next to Rhodes along with Revis we got a great young play making secondary.
