Yes Revis & Harris are good players on the + side. If you think losing is wonderful & terrific then you that is fine sorry to say from my side I totally disagree with that theroy. Do you think Belly thinks like that? Do you think Kraft thinks like that? Do you think Brady thinks like that? There is ONLY one thing that the game is played for & that is to WIN. Siit down & just ponder why the Pats are in the SB for the 4th time in 7 years & we have not appeared in the last 7 years. After you have pondered that question for some time please advise why the Pats organization can pull off that feat our organization cannot
I didn't say losing is wonderful and terrific so don't put words in my mouth. I just don't get all bent out of shape about it like you do. There is a huge difference.
The Patriots lucked into the greatest QB of all time in the 6th round, we havent gotten that lucky yet..
So how many years are you a season tix holder & how many seats do you have? If you have 4 seats & the have been holder for the last 8 years then the equation is the same for you as 227. Assuming that it is you are telling me that your 21Gs spent for just the tix is money well spent even though there has been no return on the investment from the NYJs side except for the small things you mentioned which are just trival items in the overall scheme of things. Remember to the 21Gs you have to add on all the other plusses which are not part of the 21Gs cost. Now do you really truly think that Woody is a wonderful owner? If somebody asked you the question & you told the truth "would you rather Kraft owning the team then Woody" what would you say?
Why do you say I get bent out of shape? However going 0-39 does not make me happy but from you post does not bother you. Let me ask you a question. If somebody came up to you & asked you the following question & if you were honest how would you reply. "Who would you rather have owning the NYJs Kraft or Woody"? If Woody please give me factual reasons as to why thanks.
Kraft rewarded someone found guilty of cheating. I can't support someone or a team that condones cheating, lieing, and overall dirty play. Yes, they win, but at what cost? The Patriots are a bunch of thugs and I would never support a team like that.
But Champ, aren't you the same guy who owns 12 seats? If so, doesn't that make you 3 times the chump that I am for owning 4 seats? Hahahahahaaa... I honestly don't think owner input has as much to do with winning as you claim, though. Look at Snyder... Al Davis... sometimes the more the owner meddles the worse things get. The best contribution an owner can make to winning is to bring in good management and good coaching and I'm not disappointed right now (yet) with what I see in Mangini and Tannenbaum. Keeping Mike Westhoff was a smart move and it's a shame we had to lose him for medical reasons, otherwise he's still be here. And bringing in Callahan's experience is also a good move. You can do a lot worse than taking a shot with Mangini and Tannenbaum and resisting the temptation to bring in retreads and has-beens, so I see Woody doing whatever he can as an owner. Anything more is meddling, which usually leads to long term and repeated disaster. He couldn't pull off the WWS, which certainly was not for lack of trying, and he was able to pull off the deal that finally got us away from being a tenant and made us equal partners in ownership of a stadium. So you can continue railing on and on about how Woody is such a terrible owner, but doing so doesn't necessarily make it fact.
Well firstly you must you have forgotten that I have been in a landlord situation for many years so all I do is bank someone else money & after there money clears I write Woody the check so to my way of thinking I have paid Woody zero during his ownership. Well I judge people (owners) by there success. Winners are successful & losers are unsuccessful so Woody now being 0-8 is a loser & totally unsuccessful as a owner. If somebody came up to you & asked you the question & you were totally honest "would you rather have Woody or Kraft owning the team" who would you choose? As for the cherries & whip cream of Florham Park & the 1/2 ownership that is just sweetners for Woody vastly increasing the value of the franchise. Nothing more nothing less. So do I have it correct that on your 21Gs + investment in the Woody is a good ROI for you?
But you are evading the question would you rather have Woody or Kraft owning the NYJs? It is really simple question one or the other.
Yes, it's been a good ROI for me. My ROI has been that I get to take my kids and grandkids to Jets games and they're all Jets fans, so we make a day of it and have a lot of fun. We tailgate and we talk about how things are going in their lives and we all hold out hope every year that this will be our year... somehow, some way. The owner never enters our minds... ever.... and we certainly don't think of Woody in terms of being a "loser" because the Jets have not won a SB. So tell me, what is your "ROI?" You get to be the self-described "Landlord" that you claim you are while money-handling your tickets and checks, never once attending a real game in person? Is that supposed to be some kind of satisfaction? No wonder you're so bitter and negative about the Jets and the ownership. Get on a God Damned plane once in a while and come up here to the Meadowlands and party with us. Hey, you never know.. you might actually get to like going to a game or two instead of selling every ticket that comes through your mail box. But more than that, you might learn that "Return On Investment" is a little more than simply a business definition!
I thought it was clear when I said "I can't support someone who condones cheating". If our team turned into a bunch of assholes like the Patriots, I would not support them. I don't care how much they win, I have morales that outweigh any desire to see my team win. Again, it's just a game and I treat it as such.
Morals....fat-fingered it. It's not like champ and his champanese translator would have picked up on it anyway :rofl2:
I shouldn't-a did that. I hate internet spelling teachers...but I saw a good joke in it. My bad, dude.
For my part, when I speak of my "investment," it's certainly more metaphorical. But, I also don't discount that every dollar I spend on the Jets will eventually be realized by Woody Johnson - whether the Jets win or lose. If not directly, then as increased value of his franchise; and we know that's occurred. So, I'm now at the point where I think I deserve some sort of return, which could take the form of mere progress. Progress - I don't think that's too much to ask, really.
Nah, I got a good laugh out of it. At first I had no idea wtf you were talking about and then I reread my post. I guess going back and forth here with champ has made me dumber in the process because I have to try to decipher his posts instead of just reading them :rofl2:
It's amazing to me that people actually believe that owners have that much influence over the success of a team on the field, that owners do not want to win, and that Kraft is a better owner solely because the Patriots lucked into one of the best QBs of all time. Kraft did what all owners do - he built a new stadium and charged the fans a king's ransom for tickets and parking. If you think Kraft had anything to do with drafting, playing, or developing Brady or that Moss agreed to be traded to the Pats because of Kraft or that Kraft built the OL etc etc than you all are crazy. Winning comes down to the GM, the coaching staff and the players, not the owner. Why has Kraft won and not Snyder? Snyder has thrown money around like crazy, but he never stepped in crap and ended up with a Brady or a Moss for a 4th round pick or the best OL in football. That's the difference. If Clemens becomes the next Brett Favre and the Jets start winning, does Johnson go from selfish idiot to a fan's hero and a great owner?
