I'd like to have a cocky SOB on this team, but he'd have to come cheap. We can't be spending on a luxury position right now.

The guy is a great player. There is no doubting that. I can really deal without his ass running his mouth in the huddle, especially with a young QB like Clemens.

    I'll pass.

Agreed, if the Jets had a veteran QB starting (like Pennington), I'd be more open to the idea. It should also be noted that Shockey has never played a full 16-game season.

    Shockey is overrated.

He drops too many passes and his blocking is average at best. Baker has better hands than Shockey.

Plus, he's an asshole on the field. Some might say "fiery." I say "asshole."

Most importantly, he drops too many passes. How are the G-men doing without him, by the way?

Didn't he just a sign a pretty nice extension last offseason?

He'd be pretty hard to move...

He's injury prone and that never gets better as you get older.

I'd pass unless he was a UFA. As just cap space I'd take him though.

I would rather trade for his backup, Kevin Boss.

To paraphrase Jamie Dukes, which I don't like to do: is it any coincidence that as soon as Shockey went out of the lineup, Eli found himself with time to throw? Honestly, he hasn't picked up a blitz, since blitzes were called barbie dolls.

However, that's not all. He's also an ass. He has the world's worst tattoo. He drops a ton of passes. He's injury prone... He is big and fast, though.

Maybe if we had an established veteran offense, he would be a decent addition, but putting him on our O with a young QB and line...NO THANKS!

Shockey might be the most overrated player in the history of the game. He drops passes, he can't block and he constantly commits stupid penalties that kill momentum. I dont think it is any coincidence that the Giants have become more of a team since he got hurt. No thanks.

Often injured, then throws temper tantrums when it happens. Drops passes, then blames the QB for a less-than-perfect throw. 3rd and out, it's everybody else's fault. Major locker room disruption, not to mention a mental midget of a man trapped in the emotional psyche of a 14-year old adolescent. Bottom line, his best days are behind him.

    No thanks.

The GM isn't. What else can the GM do even right before a Super Bowl but to think ahead and try to make the team better next year? It's very believable. As a Canes homer I'd love for us to get Shockey

Shockey is not a Tangini Guy. It makes no difference if he is an all pro and makes plays! We have other bigger needs to fill anyway so this is not likely.
