This is a guy that the Jets will more than likely target in free agency. The Jets were interested in him last offseason, but they would have had to give up a 2nd round pick to get him. How do you Jets fans feel about this guy?

I feel like he would be a smart and helpful addition to the Jets. He plays RT which is a position of need, He adds some beef to the Oline as he weighs over 340 pounds, wouldn't be too pricey and is young.

Do you think this guy along with the addition of a LG could get this offense back on track?
Would he help TJ and Leon?

I like the kid and I hope we get him.

    Thoughts?

If we can grab Bell and Andrews, that will have been the most productive free agency period we've had in a while.

I like Bell a lot, but I wouldn't say no to Ryan Lilja. Both would be solid guards to add to our iffy OL. Now wouldnt it be the dream scenario for the Jets OL if they spent all their FA money on Andrews, Lilja, and Bell? my lord talk about a line with massive potential for zero changeover for 4-5 years. Line stability which would be amazing.

He can play LG or RT. He finally got a lot of starting time this season after willie anderson went down with an injury and contributed to an o-line that only gave up 17 sacks all season. There run game did drop off quite a bit this year, but that could be attributed to Rudi Johnson being injured a lot. He is known as a powerful run blocker.

He didn't start playing football until his senior year in college so he has a lot of room to get better too.

He's probably going to be too expensive. I'd love if it happened though

I don't think they have much of a choice than to upgrade the o-line in FA this off season. They have to spend.

Just look at when we had Pete Kendall aright he wasnt great but he was a good solid linemen and his expirence helped our other linemen and we were pretty decent. We get rid of him and we completely Fall apart at the line. Expirence is KEY and adding a good o linemen like Andrews would be great and then another good Free Agent Guard and our Line would be set for half a dozen years with Mangold and D' Brick in place. Do we sign Two O Linemen or Sign one and Draft another ? Well see soon i guess.

The Statue of David could block better than Clement, Clarke, or Bender. So if anybody or statue is better ranked in Madden (lol) over these guys I'll gladly accept them.

I agree. The Jets will NOT be able to fix the oline strictly from the draft. It is time to pay up and get an oline.

Since there are proven Olineman available in the free agency I really do think the Jets should go after a RT and a LGi in free agency.

I totally agree. NE is as good as they are because they have a great O-line. Brady has all day to throw. And Maroney knows he will have holes to run through.

NE would still be pretty good with our current O-line, but they would have had zero chance of being 18-0.

We need a RT and LG badly, and fortunately the FA super market shelves are stocked with some real possibilites.

How many snaps did Bender actually play? Moreover, what about D'Brick? I hate to break the news, but he was, statistically, our worst offensive lineman, regressing from what was already a poor rookie performance. I don't think you can say the same about Bender, a late round project who didn't really play.

I think Andrews is exactly what we need. He's a young, strong, and athletic road grader(actually very similar to a young Anthony Clement before his precipitous decline). I think he's a wise long term expenditure because he can play either guard or tackle fairly well and he's still young. Throwing a large portion of our cap at the likes of an older player like Allan Faneca so that we can get bounced from the playoffs in the first round is, in my opinion, a waste of time. Jacob Bell would definitely be a smart acquisition for many of the same reasons that Andrews would be, and we could use the draft to focus on defense.

I'm looking forward to seeing us be real players in FA this off-season. We have the money and after this year's beating we sure as hell understand where some of our serious gaps are. Nothing left to do but to dive in and try to outbid our competitors. Not saying that we will absolutely address both LG and RT, but I would be disappointed if we come out of FA with neither issue in repair given the ample amount of FA's for the Oline.

Last year's crop of FA Olineman made a crap load of cash. I wonder if we will be able to go as far as last years teams when it come's to shelling out that kind of dough. Still, if not now then when?

  16. I'm not sure he's gonna come as cheap as many think. His performance this past season, versatility and upside are well known league wide...and unless we pounce on him early..their could be a bidding war.

I think he'd be a great addition to our line. He's right up there w/ Gross, locklear and Foster as potential targets who'd def. help our O-line. We shall see.

The O line has to be fixed this year, period. If we are to make a run as people are saying in the next 2-3 years, our line needs to be built this season , and possibly tweek it later on.
My own preference is Lilja @ Guard , more experience in what I think is our weakest spot on the oline, and draft either Gosder Cherilus or Branden Albert . Both can play OG/OT

Anyone who thinks that Andrews will come cheap is wrong. He is in the same position that Kareem was in and we all saw what kind of $$$$ it took to sign him.

If we come out of the FA market with nothing accomplished, we will be fortunate to win 6 games next year.

I don't have a problem with committing a large amount of cash to a guy like Andrews. It's not a bad idea to spend money if you're doing it correctly. Getting a 27 year old offensive tackle who allowed all of 1 sack this season is a great idea.
