Yes but Callahan got fired from the Raiders & Nebraska right? No matter NOBODY was beating down his door which indicates that is his REPUTATION about his ability is not very hi around the NFL except for us

Nah not with el cheapo Woody owning the team. Sorry guess you have not seen what I have seen thru the years & observed thru those years how the NYJs operate. Callahan does not tingle my toes & if Man suddenly pulled out watch Callahan would become the HC. Actually I would say Billick when he arrived in Balt was considered a O whiz kid. I would have more faith in him then BC but that is JMHO. KC is NOT a WCO QB again IMHO whereas CP with his noodle arm certainly is so you can see where the team is moving towards in 08 with the hiring of BC.

I agree with you to a point , he does seem ordinary. But in this ultimate team sport , sometimes its a question of fitting all the pieces together to make THE team.
    We will see

Like someone else said....CHAMP, WHO WOULD YOU HIRE??

You have soo much input and negativity on what is done by this team. Well why dont you enlighten us for once and tell us what a genuis like yourself would do in this offseason. Do a mock offseason and involve coaches and players and let us rip you apart with negativity.

    Your very biased.

I hope you are wrong. I really, really do. I'm optimistic that he'll stick to the running game and offensive line.

First of all, how is Johnson cheap when the Jets just hired Callahan to fill a position - Asst HC - that did not exist. In other words, they did not need to hire Callahan. They have an OC and a DC. All the Callahan hiring did was add to the money spent on the CS. And if you think a former HC came cheap, you are dreaming.

As for your adoration of Billick, did you watch a Ravens game the past few years? A Billick offense is an oxymoron. He did the worst coaching job I have seen in a long time this year. Take a look at his offensive resume before you want to bring him in to run an offense. 1998 was a long time ago. Maybe Don Coryell is available??? Plus Billick has been available for a few weeks now. Why isn't he being snapped up????

Did you read the article on ESPN? It said that Tampa Bay was also trying to hire him, and correct me if I'm wrong but Tampa was in the playoffs. So apparently the Jets were in a bidding war with a playoff caliber team that did think highly of his REPUTATION.

Here I even posted it again and highlighted it for you.

Another brilliant post by the wise one...try reading.

There's a thing called the Peter Principle: you rise to the level of your incompetence. So Callahan as a head coach is a reach (despite getting to the SB vs. Tampa). Callahan as OL/Asst HC may be just right. But we'll see.

Thinking Callahan will be our HC is a conspiracy theory. He will help with the running game and nothing else, calm down.

    How will Jet use Callahan?

    Here's my thoughts:

Great hire! Let Callahan focus on the Running game/Offensive Line and Schott focusses on the Passing game/Play Calling.

Schottenheimer was a very effective QB coach in SD, let him focus on his strengths and let Callahan pick up the rest of the load. Hopefully a good dynamic will develop between them so they can develop some imaginative plays.

Better OL play and a better running game will help our QBs dramatically. Now if we can get Kellen Clemens to be the 2nd coming of Rich Gannon, or Drew Brees we'll be in business.

Next year if B.S. leaves our new OC will have a full year experience with our offense.

    Brilliant!

Wow you cannot figure that out. To me that is truly AMAZING! BC was OUT OF WORK so he comes CHEAP. Typically NYJ move to go get the cheap ones. They have been doing for years & years. Think why we got Herm & others thru the years which is the reason we have won NOTHING for 39 years now

Haha, and if Callahan did end up in Tampa with reports that we were pursuing him you'd say the front office got cheap and lost the bidding war. Too much.

Would that be the case as you posted if they really truly wanted him? Sorry BC just does not tingle my toes nor do I see any upside to him vs the guy he replaced

Billick? You wanted Billick? The guy who is supposedly this offensive genius but could never put an offense together in any of his nine years with the Ravens that wasn't a joke?

And you have the nerve to criticize the Callahan hiring? Did you ever stop to think (well, probably not as thinking really isn't your strong suit) that the Jets outbid the Bucs? No, because you have this idea in your demented, warped, feeble little mind that the Jets are cheap.

Billick is out of work too, but no one is knocking down his door. Convenient how you don't mention that, but criticize Callahan for being out of work. Then you mention how no one else was looking at him, but when proven wrong (which is a pretty standard occurance around here), then you shoot back with "but he was out of work".

If Billick was as good as you claim he is, someone would have contacted him by now, right? Right?

If all you're going to do is bitch and moan about every move the team makes, just do us all a favor and root for whatever team Billick does go to.

This is a good hiring and you just can't stand to have anything positive to say. You're happy being a miserable person and anything positive would ruin your day.

This may be a personal attack and really I could care less. Are you really this retardedly stupid. Please tell me your posts are a level. If they are not how do you live without any brain function?

If two teams are bidding on a person, one team will win........ correct?

Well moron the Jets won the bidding.

Secondly, the list of very successful assistants that were not good head coaches is way longer than the reverse. For your infantile brain that means there are many more successful assistants that failed as head coaches than had any success as an HC. Do you understand that? or are you too freaking stupid?

Once they fail as an HC that does not mean they can no longer be an assistant again.

This was a damn good hire in the respect that Callahan coached up some pretty good O-lines and had successful offenses. That means he was brought in to help the biggest weakness's on the team. Most importantly it can not hurt to bring in an experienced coach.

It is one thing to argue till you are blue in the face and just spit out facts like you know what you are talking about (junc for instance) it is an entire different ballgame just arguing offering nothing .................. but "he failed as a head coach." Well no fucking shit Sherlock............................. he was not brought in to be a head coach.

Hmmm...Lets see because the Jets outbid the Bucs? Could that be it? Then Callahan chose the Jets. Could that be it?

No that couldn't be it because then that would mean 1) the Jets weren't being cheap and 2) his resume/reputation was such that a playoff caliber team wanted his services. And we can not have that because that would mean your arguments would be completely wrong and you would be full of crap, spouting off before reading the article.

Do you think at all before you post?
