Michael Oher out of Ole Miss.. Big (6'5 330) athletic and stout. He's aso versatile as he can play both tackle spots and both guard spots. Would be a perfect compliment to Brick..and our QB would never be touched. I wouldnt be surprised to see him pass both Baker and Clady and land right behind Long on most team's draft board.
I think that Erin Henderson, a junior LB out of Maryland, is an interesting player to keep an eye on in the 2nd round. I've watched a lot of Terps games over the last 2 seasons and this kid is the real deal. He was 2nd in the ACC in tackles as a sophomore and led the ACC in tackles as a junior, despite playing with a badly bruised shoulder and back that prevented him from practicing most of the sseason. At 6'3" 236 lbs, he has the frame, instincts, and speed for the position. Unlike his older brother E.J., he's much more of a vocal presence and a team leader on defense. All of the Draft services have him listed as a 4-3 OLB, but Henderson played the WILL in Ralph Friedgen's 3-4 defense (weak inside linebacker), so you already know he can play in the 3-4. If the Jets do decide to trade Vilma, Henderson could be a very intriguing option for the Jets. Even if they don't, I think moving Vilma to weak outside linebacker and plugging Henderson in the middle with Harris would be a nice fit.
I think Erin is a little small (Vilma) to fit that spot for us. I personally think he will slide into the late 3rd, and I hope we don't take him. That being said I would LOVE EJ! Fitz
Erin Henderson is 6'2 240ish right now. That's about the same size as David Harris, and he turned out to be a GREAT draft pick. Henderson could be a steal in the 3rd round. A linebacker that I like a lot is Curtis Lofton out of Oklahoma. He is 6'0 240, which might be too small to play linebacker in the 3-4, but he's a tackling machine. Lofton had 157 total tackles this season for the Sooners. He'll probably go late first or early second, which is WAY too early for the Jets to be taking a linebacker...I just think he'll be an excellent player where ever he lands.
Erin Henderson and Shawn Crable are in my eyes probably the best 3-4 ILB prospects in this draft. Also interesting to look at is Beau Bell.
Yeah, I like Henderson and Crable too. Beau Bell and Ezra Butler are both sleeper 3-4 LB prospects out of mid-majors.
I love Beau Bell as he's a UNLV guy but I really question his durability..... he can certainly make plays and he's got a good nose for the ball but he can't seem to stay healthy. I toot the UNLV horn as much as possible but this guy has the heart but not the durability.
Why would we trade Vilma because he is too small to play the position and then sign a guy who is the same size to replace him?
