They meant I would break his legs if he left

Why? He did absolutely nothing with our offense this year. Let him leave if he wants...

I don't know if you guys realize how BIG of a signing this was. Tony Wise coached one of the worst offensive lines in Miami when he was the coach there. He SUCKED. Now we have a guy in Bill Callahan who had one of the best offensive lines under Jon Gruden. Not only that, but he also had success running an offense as the head coach. I don't want him as our head coach, but if the guy gets this running game going, I would love to the Jets make him the o-coordinator. That would be niiiice...

yeah, I know... I just wanted to make that joke. Although I think schotty deserves another year. When you build an offense around noodles it's difficult to suit it to a diff QB.

    From Rotoworld:

    Jets Offense-TM-Jets Jan. 18 - 4:10 pm et

Jets hired Bill Callahan as assistant head coach.

Callahan couldn't win consistently at Nebraska, but is still a respected coach in NFL circles because of his offensive mind. It is interesting that Callahan, a believer in the West Coast system, will be teaming with Brian Schottenheimer, who favors the spread attack. It's possible the Jets will push Schottenheimer out the door or expect him to move on to Baltimore.

Push him out the door, eh? Sounds interesting. Whatever happens, it's good news for the O-line.

That's very good news.... That guys an excellent assistant coach. Big step up. I like the people on this site who are skeptical about it. Learn the game.

The WCO gets killed on this board because we ran Hackett's shitty version of it. Ultra conservative garbage. The Raiders offense was far and away more agressive. So please no roof jumpers is Callahan ends up as our OC.

There's nothing at all wrong with the WCO. It's running the WCO without an arm strong enough to go to the sideline with authority from the opposite hashmark that is the problem.

Rich Gannon had a fairly good arm when he ran the Raider's WCO.

I like it. I say we need to be protected if Shotty is going to flirt with head coaching jobs every off season. In all honesty, I can't see what these teams see in Shotty for him to be considered HC material. I don't get it...

Schottenheimer isn't going to be Baltimore's head coach, as they just announced signing John Harbaugh (secondary coach for the Eagles) as the new coach.

Just saw that. Now comes the intriguing point in all this. Schotts stays put as OC and Callahan as OLC/AC. No pressure on Schotts?? I think there will be quite a bit and if this is a harbinger of things to come, I salute Mangini for taking a cold, hard look at his staff. Now? On to the Baltimore Ryan for DC and kick Sutton in the ass on the way out the door.

Oh gimmie a freakin break. That guy was an absolute jewel his first season with the Jets. So things didn't go the same in year two. That doesn't warrant that ridiculous reaction.

I like this hire...we need more experienced coaches on this staff. Mangini can coach, but he's learning on the job.

    http://www.newyorkjets.com/news/articles/show/2051-callahan-joins-mangini-s-staff-as-ahc-offense

I'm a big fan of this pick up. This could be very very productive for the YOUNG OL (we will address with young -26-28year old FA's - and draft picks, as well as D-Brick and Mangold) that we are assured to hav ethis coming year.

I love those 2000 stats in the attached. 154 yards rushing and only 28 sacks. As long as Mangini / Tannenbaum give him the talent on the OL - experience shows he knows what to do with it.

Nonsense, he was a one hit wonder. Even though the league has him figured out he does nothing to change. His utilization of CP is horrible. CP is the best play action faker in the business behind Peyton. Where was that? No deep balls, stupid predictable outs with a QB with weak arm? Where are the slants? Later Shotty.
