obviously he won't have the size to be our NT, so we stick him at DE............do u guys feel that he can have an impact on our defense (in terms of the way we use him and production on the field) in a similar way to the way DE Richard Seymour is for the Pats and their 3-4 defense???? If i'm not mistaken Seymour was a DT in college as well and they moved him to DE.
There is absolutely zero chance that Dorsey is a New York Jet. Unless we trade the house for him, which I'd be pissed if that happened
Why the heck do people keep speculating that we'd take this guy? He's totally useless in our scheme. If Gholston is there, he's more than likely the pick. Herm picks just ahead of us. Right now, he has a very mediocre interior. A line with Dorsey and Allen could buy him another year. I'd be shocked if he passes him up.
He is the same player as Dewayne Robertson. Not a good fit at all for our defense. There is no way he is our selection even if he was the best player available on the board.
The same could have been said at this time two years ago that Reggie Bush would not be the #1 pick--surprise, he wasn't. Ya never know.
Seymour played NT/DE his first two seasons with the Pats in their rotating front. It was only after Ty Warren was drafted that Seymour moved outside for the majority of the downs. When Wilfork was drafted both Seymour and Warren stayed outside in the 3 man fronts.
I would rather trade Vilma to the Lions for Shaun Rogers and 4th. Rogers would be perfect for 3-4 defense, and Vilma would be perfect for Merinelli's Tempa cov-2 scheme. Giving up Vilma may not even be necessary, as I hear Rogers might be on his way out of the Lions' organization because of contract/weight issue.
The Jets will never trade down to get Dorsey .If anything trade up to say #12-15 and a second or third rounder added..Top 4 picks always come with a huge price tag which limits your FA choices and what we need is quantity and quality as opposed to just a couple players..Last year was one of those anomalies where the draft wasn't very deep and it proved by the way to be the correct move.(Revis-Harris)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-LkCvNK2iM i know i know, it?s just one play, and it was a poor attempt to block him, but heck, how many guys did you ever see doing something like this? And i heard, he was limited by knee injury all season. If the docs say the injury is no issue, and he really wasn?t 100% all season, can you imagine what kind of player he could become? And yeah, he?s not a ideal fit and more of a 1-gap 3-technique, but i think he could become a great 34 DE. Sure, it?s a risk, cuz we don?t really know how he fits the sceme, but it?s not different than with C.Long and half of this board is rooting for the jets to pick him. If we can get him at 6 (which i highly doubt) we gotta take him, the Risk/Reward ratio is too good to pass on him.
Never say never, wasn't Alan Branch supposed to go in the top ten last year and then sat around 'till the second round? He puts up a bad combine it will obviously hurt him. Also, there's no reason why he wouldn't work at DE.
people.......just keep in mind that dorsey isn't my first choice.......gholston is.........but i'm just wondering what you guys would think of him as a 34 de oh and btw, for those saying that he really wouldn't fit in a 34, the dolphins run a hybrid 34 on D just like we do, so................................
Dorsey will go to a 4-3 team, we have no place for him in our system. Watch him drop to to the teens anyway. It happens every draft (Brady Quinn, Matt Leinart, Alan Branch). We are not getting Dorsey.
