Thought it would be good to have a separate thread for these games. I think San Diego and the Giants can keep the games close. Huge injuries are Owens and Gates. Owens will play but won't be 100% and could reinjure the ankle. Sounds like Gates will miss the game.
I didn't really think the Chargers would beat the Colts to begin with, but Gates is a factor to determine the outcome of the game. ... I can see the Giants winning. I think Dallas may be too rested and who knows if Romo is going to be all there, if you get my drift.
I heard this is the first time the Gnats and Boys are meeting each other in the playoffs. is that true? it is surprising. The Jets have played all their divisional rivals in the POs at some point. I guess its just the way things worked out.
Yep, it's the first time for the Giants meeting the Cowboys in the playoffs. Yet, we've seen Jacksonville play New England four times already in the postseason.
Today's Giants-Cowboys game will be the 74th time in league history where teams will face off for a third time in a season with the third time being a postseason game. (Back in the halcyon days of the league, there were times where teams met thrice in the regular season.) Of the previous 73: 46 times the teams split the regular season series 26 times one team swept the regular season series 1 time the regular season series featured a tie Of the 26 sweeps: 16 times the regular season victors also won the playoff game The Giants will attempt to become the 11th team to win a playoff game against a foe who vanquished them twice in the regular season. The other 10: 1934 New York Giants- swept by the Chicago Bears in the regular season, the Giants won the NFL Championship Game in New York 30-13 (the Sneakers Game) 1943 Washington Redskins- the Redskins had a 6-1-1 record, but dropped two straight to the Giants on the final two Sundays of the season to force a tie for first between the teams; the Redskins won the playoff game in New York, 28-0 1950 Los Angeles Rams- swept by the Bears in the regular season, the Rams won the playoff game 24-14 in L.A. 1969 Kansas City Chiefs- the Chiefs had lost four straight and seven of eight (including a 41-6 playoff beatdown in 1968) to the Raiders before winning the 1969 AFL Championship Game in Oakland 17-7 1983 Los Angeles Raiders-they beat the Seahawks at home 30-14 in the AFC Championship Game after losing to them twice in the regular season 1989 Pittsburgh Steelers- the Steelers were shut out in Houston in the regular season, but won the playoff game in the Astrodome in overtime 1992 San Diego Chargers- the Chargers won the playoff meeting over the Chiefs in San Diego 17-0 1994 Chicago Bears- swept by the Vikings; won the playoff game in Minnesota 35-18 1998 Arizona Cardinals- the Cardinals were demoralized 38-10 in Dallas early in the season and later lost by 7 points in Arizona; the Cardinals won the playoff game in Dallas 20-7 2004 Minnesota Vikings- regular season scores were 34-31 and 34-31; the Vikings again scored 31 in the playoffs, but held Green Bay to only 17 The Giants will attempt to join the 1943 Redskins, 1969 Chiefs, 1989 Steelers, 1994 Bears, 1998 Cardinals, and 2004 Vikings as the only teams to win a postseason game on the road against an opponent who defeated them two times in the regular season. Also, in 1965 the Chargers took the regular season series 1-0-1 over Buffalo. The Bills blanked the Chargers 23-0 in the playoff game at Balboa Stadium in San Diego.
I'm going with the Colts today. Maybe they're the only ones that can knock out the Pats. *I'm wishing, hoping, praying, probably won't happen anyway* The Giants/Cowboys game is going to be a dandy. I read Jessica Simpson will NOT be at the game. Ha!
I think the Colts and Cowboys will win, but I hate both of those teams so I'll be rooting for the Chargers and Giants.
If this int sticks this game could get ugly, pissed i got sucked into the extra 1.5 points for SD this morning..
Harrisons 1st reception since October 22nd against the Jaguars, and he shows the rust and fumbles it.
21 passes, ZERO incompletions. Through 24 minutes of football. As I type this, Merriman almost catches it to keep it going, but the ball does hit the ground, breaking the streak. Manning almost tied Brady
