Tom Zbikowski, angry white hustle safety from Notre Dame who returns kicks, punts, hits, and, boxes.

I realize that it's no guaranteed selection but with Elam and Smith alternating run and pass downs it seems rather sensible. Plus, could you imagine the press if the coach who uses fights as motivational tapes drafted an actual professional boxer?

If I had to put my money on the Jets drafting someone other than Gholston, or this year's "odd named wide receiver"(Laveranues, Chansi, Jerricho) it would probably be Zbikowski. I don't think a bigger Mangini guy exists.

Since i know tons of Notre Dame loving Jet fans, including myself, i'd love to have this kid on the team. He is what we need as a fiery, F U kinda safety... needs work- i wouldn't say the next John Lynch, but he can knock heads.

we need a kid from ND on this team.

The last thing the Jets need in priority of need is a DB.

We could use a corner, but pretty much have the same player as him in Eric Smith.

You're talking about two totally different players. Eric Smith is a slow, in the box safety who is holding a starting spot. Zbikowski is a guy who could play in the box or cover deep. He's an excellent athlete.

As for priorities, when you play in a division with the Patriots, the defensive backfield is always a priority.

Ive been watching Zbikowski since he was a sophmore at ND....Being a big ND fan, he has a lot of upside. He is a threat as a Punt Returner, or Kickoff returns. He reminds me of John Lynch, and plays with an attitude. Would love to get this guy...As of now i see him as a late second early third round pick

I agree that way too many people are too quick to dismiss the idea of adding a defensive back to this team. Yes, the secondary is in better shape than that LB, DL or OL, but it is far from an elite group.

I would be absolutely thrilled if we could get Zbikowski with our 3rd round pick

As an avid ND fan, I'll be the first one on the board to say that I think he would be a waste of a pick. Everyone falls in love with him because of his return ability, but honestly, that has declined this past season as he's prone to take way too many gambles. As for his safety play...I don't really want to get started on a rant. He constantly gets beat, always bites on play fakes, and pretty much is your college version of Roy Williams...sucks as everything but hitting people, and no, I'm not saying he hits like Roy Williams, but it is the best thing he does.

Im a big ND fan but I am not too big on Zbikowski. I mean hes tough sure and can hit hard but he is shaky with wrapping up his men on tackles and gets caught often being burned by the opposing TE. He reminds me of Roy Williams but a tad bit less stupid, so if thats good then bring him along but I am not too big on him. Maybe he can be a solid 4th-5th round pick, but thats it.

Nice glad to see someone else sees the Roy Williams comparison with him. Hes a tough dude though and doesnt shy away from contact just hes not so great with his safety skills and was caught burned alot of the time, especially his junior year.

Roy Williams is not a good safety at all.

Well said. A total joke that he made the Pro Bowl and possibly the most overrated player in the game.

Well if we're going to take a sfety , Id take Jamie Silva over the big Zbikowski. He should stick to boxing.
We would get much better value with Silva who at tye moment is projected as a 5th/6th rounder. Zbikowski is projected at 3/4th and its not a pressing need.

Agree w/you. I would love for us to draft Zbikowski.....w/our 7th round pick. The guy hit his peak last year. Plus, if there is one thing we have plenty of,......its return men. Justin Miller, Leon Washington,......hell,..even Darrell Revis was supposed to return our punts. TZ is exact same version of Eric Smith, why would we do it?

Big time project pick. The only way they take a look at this guy is if they think they can coach him up and turn him into a player and a few years.

I agree, Roy Williams wouldn't start for a lot of teams, he gets burned by tight ends and slot receivers all the time and he misses a lot of tackles, but knocking somebody out every couple of games with a dirty hit is enough to make the pro bowl.
