i was looking for pictures of any New York Jets QB winning the Super Bowl in the last 3+ decades for my computer desktop; anyone have one??
At least it didn't take the Jets 40 years into their existence to win a SB. Their SB III victory made the league what it is today. The Patriots were a boring loser franchise for almost 40 years. The Jets are a mediocre franchise, but don't kid yourself, you are not in a class with Pittsburg and some of the other franchises who have consistently been winners. The past 5-6 years have been nice for NE, with the tuck rule and Troy Brown strips of game ending INTs, etc. Before that completely unknown and forgettable.
Very valid points! We indeed were a mediocre/terrible franchise for many years. But throughout our existence we have had some good years, even making the Super Bowl in the 80's and 90's. As far as the Steelers go, you are off base. For decades starting in the 30's they were terrible. Horrible, with no support from the people of Pittsburgh. It wasn't until Noll turned the team around in the 70's with a plan to turn to the draft (hello, '74 anyone?) to build his teams that the fans showed up and supported them. And supported them they have since. Great football team/city. Outside of it being fact, this was recounted to me personally by Mike Wagner. That is about 40 years of being bad as well. So the lesson? One may emerge from a bad start, and turn into something good. I hope that we turned that corner. The thing to me that sets Pittsburgh apart is that they have remained competitive for so long. I am a huge fan of the Rooney's. I hope we follow that, but it is an uphill battle. I guess for the Jets it is a matter of how Eric does next year. It will be a telling year. One very good, one very bad, and third? Well, we'll all wait and see.
