Playcalling. On third and medium and third and short they're showing nickel and dime when LSU is in a power set. Surprise surprise, LSU runs up the middle for a first down each time. LSU's touchdown pass came on a blitz with a broken coverage that didn't account for, dur, the tight end in the red zone.
this game has turned on its head. they just picked off boeckman. safety blitz up the middle, safety came late, absolutely walloped the QB after he released it, threw deep into one on one coverage, cornerback simply took it away and then ran back for like 20 yards. LSU about to score again. 1st and goal at the 1.
it was a confusing play. I've never seen a team do that. 5 man line with a TE where the LT might be (and only 4 offensive linemen). Then 4 players off to the right, including an offensive lineman. they simply didn't realize he was an eligible receiver. Hester stuffed twice.
wow, they go with hester a third time and I'm not sure he even got in, but they gave it to him because he fell forward after he got stuffed. 24-10. I'm shutting it off.
Did anyone else notice, when going to the commercial, in the frame on the left, it showed a purple and yellow LSU banner on the right, and on the left was a red, white and grey banner that said FOX?
If that's what happened, then it was quite illegal. The five interior linemen (two on either side of the center) are ineligible and must be on the line of scrimmage. Hester is a tubster. Give him a full head of steam, and of course he's gonna run over a wimpy linebacker like Laurinaitis who refuses to attack a pulling guard to stuff a third and short play that went to the outside.
If it was just a 6 man line with 4 split out, then I don't know how they missed covering the TE. I could be wrong, I guess. Would have to go back and look at the tape.
Not that I wasn't getting this game afterwards, but now I'm gonna be looking for this and I will be very pissed if this thing is true. There were some bs calls against Ohio State (personal foul on the push out, a false start that never happened and lots of holding by LSU: Gholston had an arm draped around his back at one point, full wrap up) . Not that this is the cause of the deficit, because this team is just melting down.
I'm just going to assume I was wrong because it's hard to believe the refs could miss that. But if I am wrong, how the heck did Ohio State not put a man on the TE?
Big surprise -- OSU getting their asses handed to them, once again, by a team from the far superior SEC. It's okay, Buckeyes, you'll get to be trounced by Georgia next year. Great Job BCS. Playoff anyone?
