In the offseason we need to do whatever possible to get Jacob Bell, LG from Tennessee. Watching him today against Sand Diego, he has played very well in both run blocking and pass blocking and could be a tremendous help to the development of D'Brick, as on several plays he has been able to help out with the Titans LT with Phillips and Merriman.

Additionally, Bell has experience at guard and RT, so he is a very versitile player. Due to the contracts that guards have received in previous offseasons (Derrick Dockery, Steve Hutchinson), Bell will probably require a very large contract. However, a large contract is worth it when you're signing a player that will provide stability at the offensive line for years to come.

Doesn't Tennessee have some ungodly number of cap space left?

We can't sign him fast enough. It's going to cost a lot of money but it will be worth it. He's a good run blocker, solid pass blocker, he's big and just hitting his prime.

Bell and Rosenhaus have been working on a new contract since Bell signed the restricted tender offer and have not been able to agree on a new deal with the Titans.

It's in his best interesting to test free agency based on what the players at his position got last year.

Tennessee has to resign a bunch of free agents, including a few guys the Jets should pursue:

    Albert Haynesworth NT
    Jacob Bell OG
    Travis LaBoy DE/OLB
    Antwan Odom DE/OLB
    Randy Starks DE/DT

Any one of these guys would make a good addition to the Jets.

Add Randy Starks to that list...he could be a good DE for us, and is still very young (24).

Bell is really the only guy on that list that I'd pursue. Odom doesn't look like he could transition to linebacker. LaBoy is a depth guy. I'd love Haynesworth but I'd be shocked if he wasn't franchised.

I was so excited for us to get this guy ---- I specifically watched him yesterday during the entire Tennessee had the ball. He did very well blocking Olshansky or Castillo whenever he had 1 on 1. Very well moving past the line of scrimmage to take on an LB once or twice. Good use of hands vs a DL trying to use his hands to get Bell off. Constantly saw him swiveling his head side to side looking to see who he should help out on pass blocking --- center? or left tackle?
I didnt feel like he was going to cost a lot of money -- not Leonard Davis or Eric Steinbech $$, but then again you never know w/the way Buffalo overpaid for those 2 guys Dockery & Walker last year.
But now I feel like a deflated balloon after seeing the 1 name I never want to see attached to a free agent that we are interested in ---- ROSENHAUS.

Faneca should command more than him, but that's about it.

The Jets have a pretty good relationship with Rosenhaus. He's really not as bad as he seems. Remember the Postons? Those guys were a disaster. If I were a player, I'd pray he were my agent.
