If you want a solid WR in the second or third round, their are many too look at. All different shapes, sizes and talents. Want a tall, physical WR who you can throw it up to for TDs? -- Possibly Adarius Bowman and James Hardy will be available. Limas Sweed, Jordy Nelson, Paul Hubbard, Marcus Monk. Want a fast, speedy WR who can be a lethal deep threat? -- Early Doucet, Earl Bennett might declare, Mario Manningham, Donnie Avery, Andre Caldwell, Harry Douglas. Want a tall, and speedy, overall balanced WR? -- Devin Thomas, D.J. Hall, Lavelle Hawkins, Keenan Burton, William Franklin. This class of WR if filled with great prospects of so many different skill levels between rounds 2-4. If we are looking for a future WR to fill in for Coles, or a specialist of some sort, this is the draft to look for that.
James Hardy is going to be the best WR to come out of this class. If he is there in rd 2 we have to take him.
Completely agree. Right now though Malcolm Kelly (if he declares), DeSean Jackson and Bowman are looked at as better prospects then him. Early Doucet is too in some cases. So currently he is slotted to go late 1st/early 2nd. I believe he will improve that though and go top 15 by draft time, but if it doesn't improve, we could POSSIBLY snag him in the 2nd.
Lavelle Hawkins isn't tall, and Early Doucet isn't a lethal deep threat...he's a lot like former teammate Dwayne Bowe, but they are both solid wideouts. Devin Thomas is going to start climbing up the draft boards. Don't forget about DeSean Jackson out of Cal...he's a more polished receiver than Ted Ginn and just as dangerous in the return game. Personally, I want to see the Jets bring in someone with some size. Adarius Bowman, Limas Sweed, DJ Hall, and James Hardy would all be excellent picks.
Those WRs were balanced WR, meaning good size and good speed. Hawkins is 6-2 so that is a pretty balanced size. Doucet, I guess isn't that speedy but he is a small, quick WR. Not like Dwayne Bowe cause Bowe was VERY physical and 6-2 and big. Doucet is a small 6-0. Thomas I don't think will got in the first round though with all the good WRs in this draft. I didn't but he is going to go in the first round. I would be fine with either one of the specialties. Either VERY fast or VERY big. I agree, those would all be good, solid, picks.
...Lavelle Hawkins is like 5'10 or 5'11 and he only weighs in the 180s. and Early Doucet is a beastly 6'0. I think he weighs around 210. Doucet is arguably the toughest college receiver when healthy. He's so strong and he's a strong blocker like Bowe was. Doucet is very physical, but he couldn't seem to stay healthy in college. He never really played at 100%. Devin Thomas could slide into the first round if he runs a solid 40 at the combine. He's 6'2 220 and he has outstanding speed.
