the jets will pick james laurinaitus with sixth pick.he will be teamed with david harris in the middle this will make an awsome combo for the jets for years to come.here are my picks for the coming draft. 1-james laurinaitus i.l.b. ohio state 2-quentin groves o.l.b. auburn 3-barry richardson o.t. clemson 4-greg carr w.r. florida state 5-robert felton o.g. arkansas 6-jason shirly d.t. fresno state 7-jaworski lane f.b. texas a & m
I'm not totally against it (picking Laurinitis) because I would love to have 2 real young studs at ILB. But the only way its going to happen is if; 1) G. Dorsey 2) J. Long 3) C. Long 4) D. McFadden 5) V. Gholston happens first. And that is not impossible - the only names missing from that list that have made some mock draft top 5s were Matt Ryan, Brian Brohm, Sedrick Ellis and Ryan Clady.
The only way we make that pick is if we trade Vilma and sign Suggs. If they take linebackers in the first two rounds the FO might be fired before the draft is even over. With Hobson on the way out, and having the acumen to know that Vilma will be fine with Harris next to him, the only logical choice is a OLB. Gholston is the pick, unless Jake Long falls to #6, at which point Long in the first and Groves in the second looks pretty nice too.
yea thats the only way we pick Laurinaitius imo and about your draft Do you really think we would go Lb Lb on a team that needs so much help on the O and D line
Just to nit-pick, Jaworski Lane would be a complete waste of a seventh round pick. In the Alamo Bowl A&M went away from him on a 3rd and 1, after he failed to convert 2 3rd and 1's earlier in the game, and you could see him literally crying on the sidelines and throwing a hissy fit. The announcers tried to cover it up because of his "love and passion of the game..." bullshit. Why would they feed him the ball on a game changing play? It would make no sense from a team-standpoint... and it just proves that Lane is a me-first player, and a crybaby as well. Rather draft some no name QB and see if we find a diamond in the rough... would be more useful then this guy who'd be cut in TC anyway.
Why would we pick an ILB? Are you telling me that is a position of need right now with Barton, Harris, Vilma, etc?
Well, Harris is the only one worth keeping on this team, but inside 'backer isn't our biggest need...so we shouldn't go there in round 1.
If said names are gone and Vilma's dealt, Laurinitis has to be the pick unless you really like Kenny Phillips or Malcolm Jenkins.
Actually, if he puts together some good workouts, I could see DeSean Jackson moving up into that range. Before the season he was talked about as a top 5 pick, and assuming the O-Line is fixed through free agency, Jackson could add the deep threat that makes this offense potent.
Dude, I would not watch 08 if we picked Desean Jackson. He's 6'0 and 165ish. It's like a Coles with no body to withstand the punishment. He had 2 games all season with more than 5 catches this year. And 4 of his 6 TDs came in those 2 games. 6 TDs? All year? Deep threat? If we pick a guy at #6 who is not even a gamebreaker on the college level, I would pack up all my Jets stuff and put it in the attic until 09 and take up bowling. I think you're just impressed with the nice catch he made for a TD in his bowl.
