**Jets trade jon vilma to Detroit lions for their 2nd round pick(48)**

    first round-Vernon Gholston-OLB-Ohio State
we are in desperate need of a OLB who can pass rush....we get vernon and bryan thomas gets to play weak side were he succeeded

    Second Round(a)-Frank Okam-NT-Texas
Even though he may not be a mangini guy from what ive been told, he would be a great pick up for NT in the 3-4 and a nice rotation guy with pouha.

    Second Round(b)-Roy Schuening-OG-Oregon State
the best OG in the draft who can make an immediate impact at LG which fucked our offense all season

    Third Round-Beau Bell-ILB-UNLV
now that vilma has been traded, we draft beau to fill his place and be a nice compliment next to david harris. this kid is a true playmaker.

    Fourth Round-Carl Nicks-OT-Nebraska
We finally get a right tackle who should start instead of anthony clement, he also adds great depth

    Fifth Round-Marcus Monk-WR-Arkansas
Added depth at reciever and hopefully jmac is gone and this kid can fill his place, standing at 6 feet 6 inches tall, this kid can be that redzone reciever we lacked..

    sixth round-Owen Schmitt-FB-West Virginia
here is the fullback we lacked and desperatly needed to pave the way for jones and washington....has excellent intangibles and i feel he is going to be a stud

    seventh round-Martel Van Zant-CB-Oaklahoma State
    added depth at corner back

This is my first mock ever...i think its solid

Don't we have two fourth round picks from the Kendall trade? I believe the deal was a 5th round pick that moved up to a fourth rounder if he played 80% of the Skins offensive snaps which he did...

Please don't waste a second on Okam (pre-combine). Especially as a 3-4 NT...

With his athleticism and height he'd be better as a DE...if he knew WTF leverage was.

well either way, its still a win-win situation because we can use a big DE...the kendall pick is a fourth round in 2009 because they dont have a fourth round this year....they traded it like every other draft pick they ever had..

some people told me frank okam can play nose tackle, i mean he has the bulk....hopefully he has a solid combine and i think d-rob,pouha,okam is a big dline, well fat wise...with kenyon and ellis rotating

What Okam really lacks is the ability to play with leverage...and then the hunger to do more than the bare minimum.

If he dominated not trying like Alan Branch and Gabe Watson seemed to do...sure...but he's not as good as either of those guys.

Isn't the job of the WLB to rush the passer? If we draft Gholston shouldn't he, not Thomas, play at the weakside spot? I could be wrong.

Yea but leverage is part of technique and they teach that in the NFL. All that kid needs is some motivation...i think he will be fine...

what about kentwan Balmer or Marcus Harrington in the second? both DT's that have size for DE in a 3-4....i heard good things about balmer

No problem. I would love the Gholston pick either way.

Projects are for teams that can afford them.

good point but you also said he is athletic so he should pick that up quicker....especially if he does good in the weight room....leverage isnt that hard to coach up...you need to stay low and keep seperation from the lineman...im more worried about the motivation

Van Zant is a good player but due to him being deaf i dont see teams trying to draft him

No. The WOLB is known as the "Drop Linebacker" and the SOLB as the "Rush Linebacker" for obvious reasons. And for anyone who thinks they know what they're talking about because they memorized the Madden playbook, it is (in most cases) the responsibility of the strong safety or less commonly, inside linebackers, NOT the strong outside linebacker to cover the tight end. Remember, the most basic tenant of man coverage is to retain inside leverage. If you cover a tight end with an outside linebacker, the majority of the time the offensive player starts off with inside leverage which is the complete opposite of what you want. The offense only has eleven men on the field; Every defense has twelve.

That is some "Replacements" shit right there.

As far as your draft goes, I don't like Okam in the beginning of the second round, or much in general for that matter. I think that he would have trouble even playing DE much less at the nose. I would rather Dre Moore at that spot or Red Bryant later on. Once we have solid enough DEs, Robertson can spell at NT to rest Pouha. By solid enough, I really think just one more to rotate with Robertson and Coleman. I never really liked Shaun Ellis, but he is a valuable part of the team and should be kept around for rotation and for when we float the line.

I like the later picks of Monk and Schmitt a lot, I think they are good grabs. I feel we have a more than viable young replacement for Barton in Hobson so I think that we could use the third rounder on someone else but I wouldn't be completely adverse to Beau Bell. I would just prefer doing something else with the pick.

we trade justin macariens and the seventh rounder for the blind kid in dumb and dumber? i think that would be a solid trade

Thanks for the lesson, Quack. I wasn't sure if I was right or not about the WLB's assignments.

the first three rounds would be terrific, move okam to DE and hed be a beast. Gholston and Okam rushing the QB in 2008 sounds good to me.

Solid draft... Is Okam a 3-4 NT though?

Also, I doubt that they could get a 2nd round pick for him since he's coming off of a major knee injury.
