How about Chad Henne in the second/third round? He seems to be in the same mold as Tom Brady!! :jets:
Flacco has the height I'd like, 6'6, and at 230 he's probably pretty sturdy. I can't argue that it is impossible to be successful coming from D2, but wouldn't it be a steep learning curve for him to go from D2 to NFL type speed?
Brady is 6'4", Henne is 6'2". QB height has become a huge determinant in the NFL lately. If Henne were there in the 6th round I supposed he'd be a pick though.
Because they wanted a backup QB they could coach up to handle things if Bledsoe got hurt? I'm sure Charlie Weis looked at Brady and told the New England brass he could turn him into a passable NFL QB. The rest is history.
I am still very confuse. we have 2 QB on jets, one very precise thrower and one with very strong arm strength but young. why does everyone want a new QB?? we do not need anymore and like other people say we should concentrate on points where jets need to improve. like in the front side and back side of line.
The QB is such an important position on the team that some people will always want somebody else there unless the team is doing very well right now. I expect that we'll see controversy regarding the QB position until the next season the Jets make the playoffs, which will likely not be until 2009 at the earliest.
Cant or doesnt run. averages about 5 yards per pass. Throws 100 times a game. Can you say "David Klingler"
I agree Brennan is a product of the system, but all of the stats you put there are just completely wrong. 1. He actually does not have bad speed at all, runs a 4.85 about. And also although he didn't really run much this year, he did still run for 8 touchdowns, and in 2006 he ran for 350+ yards if I remember correctly. 2. No, he averages about 9-10 yards pre pass. 3. He does throw a lot, but not 100, more like 40. If you want to prove a point at least look at your facts before making yourself look silly.
Flacco will not have trouble adjusting to the speed of the NFL he was a Pitt recruit and in my opinion is better than Tyler Palko. He would start on dozens of D1 teams even in some big programs. As it was said height is a huge factor these days and this guy is 6'6" 235. Hes a smart quarterback that puts so much power into his throws. Hes a natural
I'm in the Flacco camp..... I go to UD home games and watched him play live this year.... He's got quite an arm. Love to pick him up.
Height Someone earlier mentioned Ainge. He would be a good guy to take a flyer on, or Henne, for that matter, so long as it's on day 2.
I actually would mind having Brennan...he has a gun, but delivery is much like Phillip Rivers. They played TWO teams with records over .500 this year...He's small at 6'2"...He might be a 3rd-4th round pick after the combine, which would be an OK experiment. We need to beef up the O-Line and fill our gaps on the D-Line.
New Hampshire?s Ricky Santos sounds like another interresting small school QB. I never saw him Play, but his stats and Scouting Reports sound good. Anybody know something about him, or where he could go?
