I agree with this. If he could have broken a couple tackles at the goal line and scored a couple more TDs, perhaps our QBs would have also fared better inside the 20. Even in regular offense, Leon Washington was able to make something out of nothing most of the time, Jones wasn't. Gaining 1,000 yards in a 16-game season is 67.5 yards per game, usually a losing number.
Really tough to pin it on one guy. Here would be my nominations: 1. Chad Pennington: It is not an arm strength issue here. He looked unprepared coming into the season with a poor pre-season. It carried right over to the year. He made a lot of uncharacteristic throws based on poor decisioin making. He fell off considerably from last year, IMO. 2. JMac: We didn't expect much here, but IMO, he solidified that he no-longer belongs on this team. He drops balls that should be caught; especially in key situations. You can't catch everything, but I lost count of the amount of balls that he dropped that were right in his hands; way too much for somebody getting his money. 3. Brian Thomas: He just seems to be the victim of a tweener. Not quite heavy enough to be a DE and not experienced enough to be a OLB. I think that frame-wise he is suited better for a OLB on running situations only. That is how I would play him in the future. He did fall off this year without Question. 4. Graham: He has not had a good year. A lot of shanks and poor punts in key situations in the game. He has contributed to a couple of our losses. For the money he gets paid, he should do better. I think we bring somebody in who can challenge him for a starting job next year. I don't know what Graham's problems were this year, but he has to figure it out. 5. Vilma: Vilma really struggled up until he got injured. He is quick, but too light for our defense, even as a ILB. 6. Clarke: Not the he had a fall-off year because I always think he would have sucked. 7. Clemente: Proved he can be a back-up at best. 8. Bender: We will never know what is going on here with this guy. 9. Ellis: Big time fall-off year. You hardly ever hear his name called during a game. 10: D'Brick: Definitely had a fall-off year. I think he has fallen victim to not having a quality OT next to him; playing next to Clemente or Clarke would cause anyone to suck a more than a few times during the game.
^I think you're confusing disappointing with sucky. Half of those guys didn't even have expectations.
I think both QBs started well when they got in there but started to press and try to do too much after a while. If you look at Chad's first couple of games, New England and Miami at home, he was fine. Same thing with Clemens in his first couple of starts. But after a while when you can't get a running game and you have no time to throw, the bad play spreads to the QB and he starts making bad plays. That's why I'm not ready to run Chad out of town and I'm not ready to say Clemens can't be a good QB.
#1 Sutton (Fire him now!!!) #2 Vilma (i really belived he could become a good 34 LB, so sad) #3 B. Thomas #4 KC (he gets another season, but till now, he?s a dissapointment) #5 Shotty (see Sutton) #6 Graham (wasn?t he a great punter, not long ago?) #7 Dyson (i thought if Revis pans out, we would have a good pair of CBs, now we need anotherone to pair with Revis) #9 Erik Coleman (he was great 2 years ago, now he looses his starting job to a guy we signed during the season, when another team cut him) #8 Barnes (did he play a down this season?!?) #10 Erik Smith (Couldn?t take advantage of Coleman?s poor play) #11 Brad Smith (He?s not a fill in position) should i go on? when it comes to McDropsie or Clarke: no expectations, no disapointment
Clemens. Expected alot from him. He hasn't shown me anything at all, and the O line hasn't sucked on every single down. IMHO he just doesn't have it
Adrien Clark is god awful, by far the worst starter on our roster. But I know there weren't any expectations for him, so I'll have to go with Bryan Thomas. He didn't really do anything all year, after his breakout year in 2006.
James Dearth - for all those snaps Crocodile Dundee couldn't handle making The Nuge miss those all important fg's. Yeah thats it.
To me, it's T Jones because I believed in him. I even bought his jersey. He came in here and got slapped around. He won't be much better next year either because he forgot what holes looked like.
Player: BT from play maker to invisible. Nonplayer: Schotty. Even with Clemens arm he can't come up with a big play.
Not even close. It's thomas. He had a good season last year and got a big contract and has been absolutely terrible. Huge dissapointment. I also think that Eric Smith was a dissapointment. A lot of people expected him to take the safety spot from coleman and solidify the position and he has done neither.
You are fucked up........... Chad and God? Going after both of them ......... shame shame. FWIW, I thought they were both one and the same.
That seems about right to me. I think Sutton isn't any good, but the defense has actually kept the Jets in games week after week, so he gets some credit for that. The offense appears to be clueless every time out.
You gotta be kiddin me. Jones did all that was asked of him and put up some pretty good numbers. He must be asking "what am I doing here if they are gooing to sit me 3 out of 4 plays"!
