Hes this years Brian Leonard for me. Hes a football player and the kind you want on your team. He runs the ball well in short yardage situations, with a good burst. Hes also got good hands and can be used in the passing game. Blocking, ehh, not so much. I could see him as our own Cooley. He would be a step above Kowalewski. But Kow could come in for blocking situations. If nothing turns out for him on offense, then he would be great on special teams. He loves the game and would give it his all, no matter what his position. I wouldnt mind picking him up in the 5th maybe even 6th round. Opinions?
Wow, really? second round? How so, I dont see too big of a combine from him. I think hell just break a 4.6.
Wait I forgot they switched the draft. Maybe third round. He is a gamer. I think he can play some RB in the league but mostly at H-Back.
i wouldn't spend anything higher than a 4th, based on needs. i mean, i get the Leonard comparison, but what did Leonard really do this year? he had like 2 good games.
Are you serious? Have you even watched him play? Hester isn't an every down back, but he could find a role as an h-back or pass catching fullback. We don't need him, and I think Kowalewski can play the same role as Hester for our offense. Wide receiver and and EVERY DOWN RUNNING back are way more important than drafting a gadget fullback. (You'll probably hate the Jets after the draft when we don't take McFadden)
Hester is a talented running back that would provide a great change of pace for any team that gets him. I personally believe that once we have McFadden, we wouldn't need Hester since we have Jones for the short yardage and Washington for the flex option. So in conclusion, Hester will probably translate well into the NFL but we wouldn't have a need for him if we get McFadden.
My opinion is, the comparison is based solely on the fact that they're both white. Hester isn't anywhere near the pro prospect Leanord was. 7th round or undrafted.
Hester's 204 carries for 1017 yards and 11 TDS is pretty damn good in the SEC. Brian Leonard was a great blocker last year for Ray Rice and he was always a threat in the receiving game, but he wasn't as effective on the ground as Hester is. The fact that they're both white shouldn't have anything to do with it. Leonard was drafted so high because he is incredibly versatile. Hester can also be used in a number of ways in the NFL. He'll go somewhere between rounds 3-5. Luke Lippincott of Nevada is also a WHITE running back. He rushed for over 1400 yards and 15 TDs this season mainly because of his speed -- let's compare him to Leonard and Hester just because he's white, not because he's a talented player.
Wrong. I couldnt think of anybody else that blocked, ran, and recieved as effective as Hester. Theyre almost the exact same prospect, with Leonard being more athletic. I wanted Leonard last year to be our HB, now I want Hester.
