Impact : The force or energy of a collision of two objects. The hatchet cut the wood on impact. His spine had an impingement; L4 and L5 made impact, which caused numbness in his leg. - - - - - - - - My question is....How many of these "IMPACT" players do the Jets' have on defense ? -Now the scary answer is not many!!! The few I can name are : -David Harris -Dwayne Robertson -Rhodes, Revis, Vilma.....I would consider these guys....'play-makers'. Not "IMPACT" players. So the Jets' need more "IMPACT" players to be a much better team. How many can u name ? Did I miss any players ? P.S. .....Merry X-Mas & Happy Holidays To All.....
I think he means that an impact player is a guy who can nail someone with a huge tackle. Harris is the only guy on the team who can do that. D-Rob would have to actually catch someone to lay a big tackle.
Oh, so you mean good tacklers? Rhodes and Revis are up there too. Not Harris good, but very technically sound and can deliver the big hit.
Examples of IMPACT PLAYERS......Adlius Thomas, John ABraham, Richard Seymour, Wilfork, Ware, Jason Taylor, Usi, Ray Lewis, Kevin Williams, Jamar Williams, Swahn Merriman,....etc Not Shawn Ellis, or other good players. Players that make the other players around them better. Also...U can look it up in dictionary....I did provide a definition...duh!!! Also...look at N.E. Pats' depth chart & then it may be clearer 4 u to see what impact players are.
Oh....so guys on winning teams who happen to be good players (plus Jason Taylor)? So...Rhodes, Revis, and Harris aren't impact talents because if they were we'd be winning more games, I'm guessing?
Rhodes....I don't see him as a impact or franchise type of player. He is a pretty good player. Has good speed. Better against the pass than the run. Rhodes weakness is he doesn't like to tackle or hit. Also...I see that nobody has mentioned a pler I haven't named. Jets' are doing well ...playing defense with shadows & have a real lack of talent on both sides of the ball.
An impact player does things on his own to.. impact.. the game. It's got nothing to do with hitting people hard. That would make Victor Hobson an impact player, which he isn't. Rhodes can sack the quarterback, get interceptions in coverage, and is big enough to rush the line and be a runstopper. He is absolutely an impact player.
This is hurting my brain. How about we try to fill our defense with "good" players? Because we're kinda lacking that right now.
Rhodes can make an impact....when he starts to hit people & stops trying to avoid contact on the tackle. He always tries to arm tackle. He has to get stronger. Then he will recognized by the league for the talent that he does have. He's good as a FS. In fact ....one of the best. Bottom line is....Jets' need more Impact players on defense...& I think we can all agree on that.
HMMMM Christmas and I'm at work reading the Jets message board. But I have to say some of the stuff being written is actuallt worthy of me staying. I know for a fact I have to watch as many college bowl games as possible and look for DE/NT that truely stands out amoung the others. I want the MAN above the boys guy to be drafted by the JETS. To be honest my college players skills are on the low side so these two weeks will help me catch up on who's out there.
The off-season is fast approaching & the draft & F.A. are about here. Jets' need some major upgrades on both sides of the ball.
Hey...Since ur the "Queen Of Peanut Butter" ...Maybe u can start a FootBall thread for the holiday....or am I asking for a miracle?
Although I'd just love to start a thread where nobody understands the point I am trying to make, I would prefer to add to existing conversations than to clutter the board.
Kerry "fucking" Rhodes is an impact player Big hitters we have none of those, maybe harris but havent really seen him play
Stop making up your own definition. Impact players makes big plays in games to make themselves a play-maker. Play-makers make huge impacts in game, making them impact players. I don't post often, but holy smokes, I had to say something.
The Jets have no consistent impact players on defense right now in the classic sense of the word. Nobody hits hard enough to put fear into opponents and nobody forces a lot of turnovers. Harris may do both eventually when he gets his feet competely on the ground and the players around him get better. Rhodes is just a damn good safety, not a decapitator like Rodney Harrison.
