Playing a road game in New Jersey helped with that. The longest trip the Jets made this season was to Dallas.

    Same thing with the Patriots.
Look at their schedule since the Indianapolis trip-
    Bye
    at Buffalo
    home
    at Baltimore
    home
    home
    home
    at Giants
    1st Round Bye
    home
home (if they win the previous week)

Yea you're right. In this scheduling rotation that the NFL has put in pace, the Jets and Pats opponents and game locations are completely identical with the exception of the two games dependent on standings.

I kinda agree, but I would still go 8-8 at best

Yeah 2006 was because we hosted them in 2003

BUT we will be hosting Tenn because we were at Ten this year when our records were identical(2nd best in AFC East, 2nd best in AFC South). Now we will be 3rd best in AFC East, and Tenn will be 3rd best in AFC South.

But Cincy we will be on the road again in all likelihood....simply because the last time we played them in a non-rotational matchup, it was 2001 where WE HOSTED them. Since then Cincy and the Jets NEVER had identical records or records that matched us up until this upcoming season.

Otherwise you are spot on with your schedule making.

I'm sorry, but you are mistaken.

It is a fact. The Jets will play at Tennessee in 2008 for the third consecutive season.

Also, do not pay any attention to 2001. The current scheduling format was implemented with the 2002 realignment. The current scheduling format covers 2002 through 2009. After the 2009 season, the league will consider changing the format or going with a new one.

    I just dont see it.......

The cincy game we played in 2001 was before the Texans creation and formation of the 4 team allignment. Since then we never faced them in a similar ranking matchup

I'll lay out the whole thing as it pertains to the Jets from 2002-2009. Give me some time. I could have it posted before the bottom of the hour.

I appreciate it, Ill get to learn something. :D

But I dont know, has it happened before in history that a team has gone on the road to face another team back2back2back times?

    Jets non-divisional opponents, 2002-2009

    2002:
home- DEN, KC, GB, MIN, AFC North (team that finished in same place in their division as Jets finished in East)
away- OAK, SD, CHI, DET, AFC South

    2003:
home- JAX, TEN, DAL, NYG, AFC North
away- HOU, IND, PHI, WAS, AFC West

    2004:
home- BAL, CIN, SF, SEA, AFC South
away- CLE, PIT, ARI, STL, AFC West

    2005:
home- OAK, SD, NO, TB, AFC South
away- DEN, KC, ATL, CAR, AFC North

    2006:
home- HOU, IND, CHI, DET, AFC West
away- JAX, TEN, GB, MIN, AFC North

    2007:
home- CLE, PIT, PHI, WAS, AFC West
away- BAL, CIN, DAL, NYG, AFC South

    2008:
home- DEN, KC, ARI, STL, AFC North
away- OAK, SD, SF, SEA, AFC South

    2009:
home- JAX, TEN, ATL, CAR, AFC North
away- HOU, IND, NO, TB, AFC West

You'll see that the Jets played/will play every other team at least twice- once home and once away.

It happened many times prior to 2002. The current format is much better, but there will still be the occasional quirk such as this Jets at Titans one.

This is basically like the Jets traveling to Oakland year after year after year for regular season and playoff games. I think the first year of that "rivalry" was the last year of the old sked rotation though.

Ini any case, there aren't very many home out-of-division games that are really appealing at this point. Maybe Denver.

Yeah, they had to go to Oakland in 2001, which was the final year of the old format. The Jets also went to Oakland in 1999 and 2000.

Then the new format put the Jets in Oakland in 2002 and 2003. Then there were also the two playoff games for a total of seven Jets @ Oakland games in five years.

The jets will be a playoff team in 2008, we have played good in even years since 02 (and bad in odd years). If we have a really good offseason and build the o-line and d-line, we can go deep in the playoffs.

    Let's analyze 2009.

    2009:
home- JAX, TEN, ATL, CAR, AFC North
away- HOU, IND, NO, TB, AFC West

Assuming we get 2nd in the AFC East, passing Buffalo, which is possible, and assuming Cleveland gets 2nd in the AFC North, and Denver gets 2nd in the AFC West, we got outselves a schedule that looks pretty difficult in 2009. 2008 better be our year.

We play the NFC West, that should be worth a win or two....

We pick up two all pro guards a sensational RT, a game breaking WR, a slot WR, an all pro NT an animal at an OLB who is the next coming of LT, a new OC, an experienced QB coach and a great OL coach we should be competitive against that schedule.

Its still early and we dont know whats going to happen in the offseason but I really dont see us winning any of the away games except maybe Miami.

At Home Miami and maybe One of KC, AZ or StL.

3 Wins is my prediction. Even if we win one of the harder games their is a shot we only split with Miami.
