Don't quote the New York Daily News. It's propaganda, I tell you. *has flashbacks, takes cold shower* No, seriously, someone here told me Cimini knows nothing, so don't read him - EVER.
Matty bro...relax. I just seen the thread that got you all frustrated. Take it with a grain of sand and digest it . All better? I am a supporter of this site and do not believe you are a bad guy you just have an opinion to share. So I will continue to do what I do with the understanding an objective viewpoint will be lanced into a thread. Cimini just happened to express Mangini's untimely inability to be adverse with making changes. Something that has been beaten to death by many many Jet fans...and I have come to agree with that notion.
Which are now burned or turned over. Anyone think Goodell is protecting Belicheck and a bigger stain on the league's model franchise?
Can't remember where I seen it posted but mangini tried to snatch coaching staff and influence players into defecting to Green.
Been through this before, maybe in this thread- not sure. Belichik was pissed about WHERE Mangini was going, not that he was leaving. The other circumstances that may or may not have happened, like Mangini trying to poach Pat's staff, would have added to that. Remember that the Jets and Pats have as nasty a recent history as any two teams in the NFL, with both teams being forced to give up draft picks to the other for alleged tampering in the last decade. To Belichik (and Kraft) the Jets are the worst place that any ex-Pats employee could go and anybody leaving Boston for NY would be seen as extremely disloyal. Now throw in the fact that Belichik and Mangini both went to the same school and that Mangini would not have a job in the NFL at all if it were not for Belichik and I have no trouble understanding Belichik's discomfort with him leaving for the Jets.
My point is if Mangini was such a lousy coach. Belichik would be happy he came to the Jets. Be like if Herm Edwards went to Miami. If he was a good coach I would be pissed. But he is not so I would be psyched if he was coaching Miami. Not that a different coach would help them this year.
I would like to point out that this comment is an insult to Lima Beans everywhere. Damn you and your discrimination!
Mangini and Belli were close weren't they? As a poster already stated, he wasn't mad that he left.. he was mad that he came here. Belli hates us and I guess felt betrayed that Mangini would come here. (Can't blame Mangini though for taking the job obviously)
And you though several of our pass rushers looked good in training camp? Why bring this up form two months ago? Whats your point.
Back than I thought the line was playing as well or better than last year. The OL last year sucked and it clearly sucks this year however we are averaging almost 10% more YPC and although our QB are being sacked more, Clemens is being sacked at a much higher rate than Chad probably because he is looking down field more and not as quick to check down. We are also played better defensive teams this year. Hard to argue that the OL is not a huge problem but it was a huge problem last year as well.
Did anyone stop to think that this may be one reason why Chad was dumping passes off so much this year? It's better to dump the ball off and get something instead of waiting for a play to develop downfield and getting sacked. With the way our OL is blocking, it's a possibility. There haven't been too many plays where he really has a lot of time or room to step up to throw them deep. Either of them for that matter.
He primarily dumped balls off last year as well and his TD to INT ratio was awful last year. Chads a nice guy but he can't throw the ball outside the hash marks or down the field anymore. He is limited to short passes and the occasional shot down the middle. Clemens has been bad but even with a terrible completion % and a bad TD to INT ratio, he has still been more productive than Pennington.
It was next to impossible to gauge how the DL and OL were doing in TC since there was a minimum amount of contact in camp. At best, some guys looked to come into camp in good shape physically (like Ellis) and there was very little contact on which to judge the trench guys. I believe what I see with my eyes, and the OL has been horrible all season long. they didnt just get bad after the end of October. I like to see some of the opinions that were posted here during the season to see how opinions on the board change with the times. Not just regarding the OL, but also the QB situation, the CS situation, etc. Absolutely. it was pretty obvious, imo that the checkdowns had to do with WRs not being open before the pass rush started closing in on him. Absolutely
I agree that the O-line is a a huge problem. The biggest on the team. They have sucked since the preseason games IMO, but thats just me. Is Chad always dumping it off? Why the hell do we run the 5 yard out on every single passing down? Is it becasue of our crapy O-line or is our OC jsut the stupid? Questions I don't have the answer to, but would really like to know. The real question in my first post should have been why single out Winston? Personal vendetta or something going on there?
