Greeny made the point that Parcells was the one to draft Pennington to the Jets. Anyone think that there's a chance we can deal him to the Falcons if Parcells takes the job in Atlanta?
As far as I understood, Parcells is going to be a VP and not a GM. He won't be making the calls directly if that is the case.
Dick Haley is the one that drafted Pennington. Parcells chops as an executive are not really what they're cracked up to be. Granted, he's not terrible, but Dick Haley ran that draft. I'm sure Rich McKay will still be doing the bulk of the work. -X-
Parcells would be hired in Atlanta to change the face of the franchise which is in Disarray right now. He would hire "his" type of guys who would be hard on the players, the opposite of what they have had the past few seasons. Arthur Blank figures that Parcells even if he is not involved with day to day operations would know who to bring in to turn things around. Sort of what he was going to do for the JETS before the NFL stepped in to bargain for the Patriots.
Why do so many people want to get rid of Pennington when we don't even know if Clemens is any good yet?
He's not good, he's won a division title, taken this team to the playoffs and won, is one of the hightest rated QB's when he's playing, yet he's no good? This offense sucked from day one and it had nothing to do with Chad, if it was Chad then when Clemens came in he should have lead this team to the playoffs like Chad did in 2002, but what has he done? 3-10, please...
We can do this dance over and over but Chad is an average starter now. He is not the same guy from 02. His arm strength now is just too much an issue for this offense to prosper. His edge was making great decisions and not turningf it over. He proved this year that that edge is gone

No one said 1 player was going to fix this offense.. What we know is we needed to see what Clemens can do and that Chad can only take a team so far.... Chad used to be the smart guy with a weak arm who never made mistakes. This year he was the guy with a weak arm that MADE MISTAKES...... Defenses crept up and only had to cover 1/2 the field, they jumped his routes and he wasn't good against the best defenses that you need to beat to WIN IT ALL!!! I'm not saying Clemens stopped them from that but, if Clemens is the guy he eventually will and in the end that gives the offense a lot more options..... We did The Chad already.... NEXT. You run Clemens out next year with more options and protection and you bring in a FA and possibly a draft pick and turn the page.
I'm not the Coach or the GM, but I'd think hard and long if I were the Jets before I ship off Penny and put all my cookies in the Kellen Clemens basket, this team does not need another Browning Nagle or Glenn Foley ( Although Foley was 0-2 in his 2 starts in 98, he showed a lot of potential, they should have beat SF in OT and he never got to finsh the Ravens game due to injury which caused him to loose his job to Vinny, who knows what Foley may have done had he started all 16 games, anyway) And they don't need to bring in other peoples garbage to play QB like they did from the time Ken O'Brien retired to when Penny took over. Penny has been the closest thing to a franchise QB for the Jets since O'Brien, I don't see Clemens being a winner, I just don't.
Penny had a great O-Line when he came in, so all of his dink and dunk crap was okay. But if you're getting sacked once a drive, then it's impossible to make 15 yards on a series when your QB completes passes for 4 yards everytime. BTW, KC isn't responsible for 3-11. He's responsible for 2-5, Chad for 1-6.
That was pre 2 shoulder surgeries. Stop already with Chad's track record. Do you watch this guy play??? Next you are going to tell me what a great coach Herm was because of his track record
