Wow holy robbed.... how about Kellen Winslow and Derek Anderson. I hate the pro bowl. Winslow is the best TE in the game and a huge reason the Browns could win the AFC and he doesn't make the Pro-Bowl. ..... disgrace
Not quite. He won the fan vote, but fortunately the coaches and players over rode the fans. I'm happy with him as a punter, but Belichick prefers a high punt with no chance of return to a long punt. His numbers aren't all that spectacular. Not surprised the fans vote was trumped.
If that is the case explain the 1 Jet last year? We go 10-6 and all we got was a KR in the Pro Bowl. The Most Pro Bowlers the Jets had in the last decade was 4(1997 season, '98 PB) 1998 we go 12-4 and all we got was 2 guys.
I know you are totally on with stats, but I really was making a general statement in terms of recognition. Every year somebody on our team seems to get shafted from the pro-bowl honor. It seems that winning has a way of bringing more people into the lime light; plus there is a carry-over stigma that can last for years if you rteam continues to do well. For instance, if the Jets win a Super Bowl, they more than likely will have several poeple going to the pro-bowl that year. If they can somehow turn that SB win into repeat performances like the unmentionable team a bit frther northeast, then we will start to see a significant number of Jets being nominated for the pro-bowl due to the national attention it will draw along with the established legacy. As for last year, I think Rhodes deserved to go, too. At 10-6 with are so called soft schedule, we didn't generate enough national hype.
We should sign him again...just because he looks like Polamalu. It's not like he's talented or anything, but his hair would make him popular enough to get Pro bowl votes.
If you think that Polamalu made the Pro Bowl AT ALL based on his play this season, you're crazy.... In fact, the former Jet, Tyrone Carter, has played as well as Polamalu when Polamalu's been out of the lineup this year... And by the way, even though the hair comment was a joke, even so it was just as reasonable as any other explanation for him being in the Pro Bowl
Honestly, this sucks, but it's not the worst thing in the world. It probably just motivates Rhodes to be better. It's arguable that he should have gone to the probowl two seasons out his first three now. We got ourselves a player. Besides, if Palumalau is still banged up at the end of the season, we might see Kerry just yet as an alternate.
I was talking about Leonard Peters... I hate fan-based voting and Polamalu didn't deserve to make this all-star team, but oh well -- he's a well known player on a successful team.
Cribbs is arguable, but Rhodes got robbed. Oh well. Maybe having no Jets go is a good thing, seeing as they can't get hurt if they were in the game.
Looking at those stats, Sean Jones probably deserved it more than Rhodes. I also think Mario Williams & Brandon Marshall got snubbed from the AFC team big time. How did Kyle Vanden Bosch & his 9 sacks make it over Mario & his 13?
How about Fred Taylor? 1000+ yards in week 14, and a 5.1 YPC average while splitting carries with Jones Drew... Meanwhile, Marion Barber, who isn't even in the top 5 in rushing in the NFC, makes it
Who cares what Jet made it or didnt make the loser Pro Bowl. When was the last time anyone watched or cared about the Pro Bowl? With the way the season is going we can have 4 players make it and have a Rhodes ACL injury, Washington torn rotator cuff, David Harris PCL tear, and Revis broken tibula. Who cares, the less they play is better.
