Gee , what a freaking surprise. George Mitchell works for the Sox and not one player thats played for the freaking sox the last decade is on this list, gimme a break. And I dont count Gagne who played for them 4 two months. All these players using roids but nobody on the redsox has for the last 10 yrs, bullshit
Did you look at how he got who he did? http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3153646 every player on the list either got busted in balco, online shopping or bought from radomski. it's not like he has a ton of wiggle room.
Realistically, there is fair reason why the Sox have such a small showing on the list. It comes down to who Mitchell got to actually speak to him. That doesn't mean the Sox are innocent, just that he didn't speak to anyone who dealt with any recent players. I've been saying all along that it's a conflict of interest. In Mitchell's defense, he did say that the list was far from complete.
Exactly. You can't kill him for not having a complete list...that would be impossible. Given the hand he was dealt, I don't think we could've expected much more.
Funny thing about that Canseco; Jim Rome tried to get him on his show today. The reason he didn't come on? Rome wouldn't pay him. Even though everything he's said is true he's still a dueche....
Had you actually bothered to read the other threads, you would have noticed that Theo Epstein was singled out for KNOWING Gagne was on roids, before they signed him...
It's worse than just that. The Dodgers chose to not extend the guy. He was signed to a mid-level contract by Texas, and spent a good chunk of time on the DL. Theo's email was before the 2007. He then watched Gagne throw 16 saves and traded three prospects and cash for the guy. One of the prospects, Gabbard, was 4-0 with Boston, and 6-1 for 2007. Gagne was in a one-year contract. So, given the text of the email, Theo not only knew Gagne was on steroids, he was counting on it. Paid heavy value for it.
Maybe true, but I believe what he said in his book. As for "the list"...it is a product of who ratted. Not being on this list does not mean that a player is "clean", just that he didn't get his supplies from Balco or Radomski. There are probably fifteen or more other Radomski's out there that haven't been exposed.....
"Knowing" is an overstatement.....He cleawrly suspected that Gagne was on Roids.... the real question about that is this..."Of all the players traded for or dealt, what percentage of them are 'suspected' of being enhanced"? If that is a very high percentage, and you want to win, it may be an unavoidable evil to bring such players in.... Seems odd ot have a NY fan throwing stones at Theo for bringing in a suspected roid user....
uh..no he didn't. What he said was "I got stuff on Arod. Buy my next book if you want to find out what it is"...lol
It might have something to do with the fact that the deadline to tender contracts was then and he won't be pitching next year after Tommy John surgery. That might be it.
