The point doesn't make sense, as that wasn't what you quoted.... I said: And in response you said: Thereby citing Foley as the 'young QB with potential,' despite the fact that he had been around since '94 and hadn't made much progress.... And citing Vinny as the 'older guy, with an injury riddled past, who is clearly on the decline.....,' despite the fact that he did not have an injury riddled past, and was not even remotely 'clearly on the decline.' You will not find an example beyond this season's Cardinals, who replaced Leinart permanently due to injury, of a young team, far from contending, coming off of a 3 or 4 win season, replacing a young QB with potential, in favor of an older guy, oft injured, clearly on the decline, and reaching their potential with that old guy at QB.... Barring an extreme, fast, impossible under the salary cap, rebuilding job, this team will not be ready to compete before Chad or any other older, declining QB is no longer able to lead them...
Hey everyone-- Chad is no longer a starter for this team nor will he be one unless KC gets injured. The Chad Pennington Era is over - like it or not, it is time to move on from him as we've done with the other QBs that have led this team to mediocrity (truthful sarcasm)-- Clemens will be here next year, that is the direction the JETS are going in. Let Chad go, its time to move on.
Those are important stats, but I'm willing to wager that the more accurate guys who make the best decisions(as reflected in YPA/C, and TD-INT ratio) also happen to be fairly successful in those categories. How does one measure "two minute drill capability?" The best two minute drill quarterback is most likely an accurate guy who can see the field and expedite the ball quickly. This feeds back to accuracy and yards per attempt. -X-
That's not what you said before the season when you said that Chad was definitively the 12th best QB last year, and the 11th in 2004 because that's what his QB rating ranking was.
this is my point before too. chad was great precise pass qb, but everyone say that he is reason why jets lose this year.
Because you don't have to have a Tom Brady or a Peyton Manning to win a Super Bowl. It helps, but it isn't the only way to ensure a Lombardi. If we had the option of getting a QB better than Chad I am all for it. They don't grow on freaking trees like FOURTHANDLONG would have you believe. In that case I stick with the guy that proves he can do the best job. Right now our team is so bad that even good QB's would have trouble doing well.
You wouldn't know a fact if it slapped you on the ass. Weak schedule my ass. That is the excuse for people who don't know jack. :breakdance:
Either way, I strongly doubt Chad is on the Jets next year. Whatever team he's starting for will instantly become my #2/1b team though.
way to leave out the part of my post that addresses winning without a great QB. Go back and look at the last 20 superbowl winners and tell me how many of the teams had great QB's and how many were average. Then go back and look at what teams were true superbowl contenders during that time, and look at the teams with the average to slightly above average qb's that won superbowls and tell me how many times they sniffed the trophy and/or competed for it. Like it or not it's a quarterback driven league. obviously great qb's don't grow on trees, but if you don't make an effort to find that great qb for your team it's extremely unlikely that you will have a powerhouse team competing for the superbowl on a regular basis.
No, what I said was the QB rating was a useful indicator of where a QB ranked but that it was not the be-all and end-all of a QB's performance. Any QB whose primary intention on every play is to complete a pass, any pass, will have a higher completion percentage and QB rating than most QB's whose primary intention is to get down the field and score a TD. That's because completing a 5 yard pass on 3rd and 10 is good for your rating and bad for your team's chances to score a TD. This season Chad was just looking to complete ANY pass he could regardless of the situation. The pick-6's were bad, but the drive-killing short passes that both chewed time off the clock and lead to aborted drives were worse, because they were happening more often. Chad's 3:54 second drive with 6:56 to play at the end of the Buffalo game and down 10, which took 11 plays to go 64 yards is the perfect example of taking what you are given even when you need more. The following drive with 1:43 on the clock Chad completed 3 consecutive passes for 4 yards, 2 yards and 1 yard as time rolled off the clock. He completed 3 passes in a row without getting a first down! Against the Buffalo Bills! That's the definition of a QB not having a clue as to what was needed in a clutch situation at the end of the game. On two straight drives. When he finally did have to throw the ball down field instead of dumping it off he threw a pick-6. That's the definition of a cooked QB.
So why are we 3-10 this year with the same team? As a matter of fact we have a better Rb in Tj, Cb in Revis, Lb in Harris and De in Coleman then Genius? We are 3-10 because of Pete Kendall? What I stated are facts and facts you can't handle.
Chad can not do the best Job! If he was still in we would be 2-11! Now way he beats Pittsburgh! Qb's don't grow on trees but you don't keep the guy you drafted to take over on the bench to let a finished Qb who can't throw or run stay in and throw more disgusting 4th Qtr interceptions in a season that is already lost. What purpose would Chad Starting serve. None!
I thought you kicked the bestiality porn habit months ago? I bolded the QB's I would consider top tier at the time. Rothlisberger and Warner may cause some debate, but this is my list so I'm calling them top teir. Obviously Warner is no longer in that category. According to this list 76% of the last 21 superbowl winners were top teir QB's. You can also see a bunch of repeat winners/contenders in the list. 2007 Indianapolis Colts vs. Chicago Bears Peyton Manning 2006 Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Seattle Seahawks Ben Rothlisberger 2005 New England Patriots vs. Philadelphia Eagles Tom Brady 2004 New England Patriots vs. Carolina Panthers Tom Brady 2003 Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Oakland Raiders Brad Johnson 2002 New England Patriots vs. St. Louis Rams Tom Brady 2001 Baltimore Ravens vs. New York Giants Trent Dilfer 2000 St. Louis Rams vs. Tennessee Titans Kurt Warner 1999 Denver Broncos vs. Atlanta Falcons John Elway 1998 Denver Broncos vs. Green Bay Packers John Elway 1997 Green Bay Packers vs. New England Patriots Bret Favre 1996 Dallas Cowboys vs. Pittsburgh Steelers Troy Aikman 1995 San Francisco 49ers vs. San Diego Chargers Steve Young 1994 Dallas Cowboys vs. Buffalo Bills Troy Aikman 1993 Dallas Cowboys vs. Buffalo Bills Troy Aikman 1992 Washington Redskins vs. Buffalo Bills Mark Rypien 1991 New York Giants vs. Buffalo Bills Jeff Hostetler 1990 San Francisco 49ers vs. Denver Broncos Joe Montana 1989 San Francisco 49ers vs. Cincinnati Bengals Joe Montana 1988 Washington Redskins vs. Denver Broncos Doug Williams 1987 New York Giants vs. Denver Broncos Phil Simms
This post proves your point. The sad thing is all they will do is come back and talk about Dilfer or Brad Johnson or some crap about Chad having to be surrounded by all-pro's like the rest of the Qb's to succeed. The fact that we play in an afc with Brady and Manning who will arguably be remembered as two of the top three Qb's of all time is missed on a lot of people here. They think 22-30 for 160 yards of Dink and Dunk can take us to the promised land come playoff time.
