Years for him to "show promise"? Whoa. HE won't be in the NFL. Higher profile QB's coming in don't get "years to show promise"? Ryan Leaf anyone? Akli Smith?

Not for him. He's conveniently blocked that game out of his memory along with the 42-10 win over Favre and the 12-3 Packers six days earlier to win the division.

Please, he's clearly not the same QB he was then - physically or mentally.

People like to dismiss quarterback rating, but it's comprised of THE MOST IMPORTANT stats that make a quarterback. Touchdown to interception ratio, completion percentage, and yards per attempt are the essentials of the position. A big arm, as Jeff George showed us, will only get you so far.

That said, quarterback rating is a little more relevant now than it was in earlier generations. Back then defensive backs were allowed more contact and passing offenses were a bit less refined. The West Coast offense and the growth of the short passing game really lends MORE relevance to the "flawed" qb rating system.

John Elway and Troy Aikman are two blond haired, blue eyed, All-American types who were consistently overrated throughout their careers because of big arms and gritty mentalities. Some of the seasons where Elway made the Pro Bowl are downright awful. Moreover, Clutch Elway has some of the worst Super Bowl performances in league history. The two Super Bowls they won were absolutely dominated by the run. Were they very good passers? Yes. Gritty, solid quarterbacks, but nowhere near the discussion of greatest of all time.

How many years did it take for Peyton Manning to show Promise? He would have been run out of Ny in on season with this kind of thinking.

Starting all 16 games and throwing 26 TDs as a rookie is pretty F-ing promising.

Like Eli Manning? He's still around in NY and he's still mediocre. Peyton showed promise right away, he just didn't get results for a couple years because he was on a team bad enough to get the #1 pick and they threw him right in. He didn't get to sit and learn for a year on a playoff team and then play in his second year in the offense. He had to learn everything at once. Same for Elway and Aikman.

Curtis was injured and lucky to get his 1,000 yards that year. That's one reason we were 1-4 and Vinny was replaced by Chad. Nice try, though.

Throwing 26 T/D on a veteran team with a Sb shot is not promising. Your supposed to do that. I would have been impressed if he would have been able to do something with this team without CURTIS MARTIN, CURTIS MARTIN to bail his a** out so he wouldn't have to throw!

He has the following T/D int

    His three years of starting
    2002 T/D 22 Int 6
    2003 T/D 13 Int 12
    2004 T/D 16 Int 9
    2007 T/D 17 int 16
He had one good season in 02 and the league figured him out and he has been handing the ball off to Cm ever since! Cm was gone last year and he threw 17 T/D and 16 Int. This year he had no Cm and he is on the bench. He is the most overrated Jet of ALL TIME!

Are you still under the impression we had a good team last year? After 13 games this year you still can't handle the truth?

If Curtis Martin had not been on the Jets Chad would have been gone years ago!

 I'm pretty sure he was talking about Peyton Manning and not Chad Pennington there. But your mind is so clouded with hatred, I guess it doesn't matter.

You are what your record says you are. Last year and this year are/were two different teams.

So how did we go 10-6 and make the playoffs last year with HOFers Kevan Barlow and Cedric Houston running the ball?

I actually do NOT agree with that. The most important stats for a QB are 3rd down effeciency, red zone effeciency, and two minute drill capability. That is what wins games.

What was Neil O'Donnell's QB rating? I read in the papers once that he preferred a sack to an incompletion, that he wanted to keep his completion percentage high.

Just when I thought you have said the stupidest thing yet you deliver once again. You are quickly becoming the NY Jets version of RaiderJeaux. :rofl2:
