I remember reading a while back how lions used to chisel "Christians Suck!!" on Roman messagewalls. Now, THEY were poor winners. Sports are cyclical. This is a just bad cycle. Ride it out.
I wasnt referring to you or Gator- but to pidgeon. Anyway, you have a sense of humor, but if there are two cult comedies that are must see, they are Caddyshack and Animal House. One of my best friends who is a freaking riot still hasnt seen Caddyshack, which is inexcusable.
Kurt you are one of my all time favorite posters. Sorry to see that you have let the lossing get to you. If it's not fun no use putting the energy into it. I always loved playing sports and watching them and lossing was still more fun than not participating. A beer with a friend watching your team go down in flames is still a beer with a friend, something to cherish. Even if your friends are Pats fans and rub your nose in it, I'm sure it's more out of love and knowing you can take it more than anything else. The great thing about sports is there's always next year.
I totally feel you dude – after this years Mets and Jets meltdowns I’ve been seriously considering quitting being a sports fan. I’m about 90 – 10 in favor. I’ve come to realize that I take losing much more personally than the million dollar fuck heads whose jerseys I buy…and I can’t stand that. I was going to try to sell my 20 or so years of Mets / Jets loyalty on eBay and see if anyone would give me a quarter for it. Signed, Completely disgusted teetering on former sports fan
Never seen either of them. I just don't have the patience to sit and do nothing for a couple hours, which is all tv/movies are to me. Even as a kid, the cartoons would be on, and rather than just watching Gi Joe or Transformers, I was playing with them in front of the tv. These days, my wife will watch movies, and I'll be next to her on the couch reading a book or a magazine. I watch some things, but for the most part, it's just not worth my time. Now sports, on the other hand, I can watch from the second my eyes open till the moment they close. But that's more "interactive", since I'm usually throwing things while watching.
what kind of gay vagina toting post is this Kurt? for gods sake man.....be a man......wtf???????? youre not gonna be sports fan anymore because boston teams won a few championships? get the fuck outta here........pull up your panties and wipe your snotty nose on your sleeve and lets go.......back through the door of manhood my friend.m tough love is the only way to get you back on board...think of this as an electronic slap across the face bro
Lol, you referenced Animal House without having seen it, some jerk calls you out on it, 5 people come to your defense and tell the basher that he's an idiot and that you were referencing a movie you hadn't even seen. How awesome is that?:breakdance: Kurt you're the man, I need you around so I can read some thorough Buck Foston posts. EDIT: Whoops, nevermind! Still like your posts though Kurt.
Anyone follow this? Remind me never to have you describe a Seinfeld episode ...so then, 5 guys reference George and then Kramer comes back and Jerry and Elaine are like.,.that's awesome.....so George and the 5 original guys plus the 5 new guys are like..whadaya mean?..and Jerry and Elaine are like....Yeah right. Awesome episode :breakdance:
Get a grip man... Re-assess your priorities. If you can handle trash talking on amessage board what would you do in a real crisis? Seek help.
Kurt, if you can't get enjoyment out of sports due to fans, then maybe you're not doing it right. I know you live in the Boston area and have to deal with all of the nonsense that comes with the success that their sports teams are having, I have dealt with shit like that in the local area, especially during the Cowboys dynasty. I like you, Kurt, you're a smart guy, good metalhhead, a good Jets fan and a good dude all-around, I respect you. And knowing I feel that way, I feel comfortable telling you this: grow a fucking sack. It's sports, you don't get paid for the overall success of the team so it shouldn't be something that causes that amount of stress for you. Your life will bring you far more daunting obstacles that you actually have control over, deal with those while maintaining your passion for the Jets, it is possible.
Kurt I'm in the same boat as you. I live in Mass. Hell, I live less than 10 miles from Gillette Stadium. The 2000's have been the darkest period of my sports viewing life due to the Pats and Red Sox recent success. But then again, Red Sox fans probably said the same thing during the late 90's. I also tend to take this shit too seriously at times. But for me it's like the flu. It comes and goes in about 24 hours and then I'm over it. The Jets are like a bad relationship you can't get out of, what can I say. I think that walking away from this forum is the exact opposite of what you should do. This place is the only place I can go to talk to other Jet fans who share my misery. Following the game threads every week has become part of my Sunday ritual. If nothing else, this forum is always good for a few laughs! If you want to live to see the Jets win a championship during your lifetime I suggest you do what I do. Eat right and keep yourself in excellent shape. You will need to live a long time.
Yeah, everybody has a few crappy things happening most of the time. I feel privileged that the Jets generally are one of mine. Leaves fewer slots for really bad stuff to happen.
I admit I watch less movies now than i used to, and NO reality TV, or any TV for that matter, except for some news, weather and of course sports. I'm behind on some good movies I still want to see (Marshall, 300 and departed to name three) but when I do get into watching a good movie, i enjoy it. It sometimes takes me more effort now to get into that "suspension of disbelief" mindset. So i dont think you're totally out to lunch on that. :breakdance:
To those of you who have supported Kurt in posts above, I commend you. To those of you who have ridiculed him, how about you go fuck yourselves? I've met the guy at TC two years in a row and he's not the "head case" you guys seem to be intimating by suggesting he "seek counselling," etc. He's a regular guy who really loves the Jets and enjoys rooting for them, so knock off the sarcasm and snide remarks. The guy just may be going through several situations right now and his support of the Jets is the last straw. If I had to go to a sports bar in Massholechusetts with a bunch of gloating, Panty-waist Patriots fans and listen to their shit constantly, I'd be pretty pissed too. Come on guys, don't dump on Kurt now just because he's fed up taking their shit. He's been a great contributor to the board and his football smarts, not the least of which is his line knowledge, is difficult to match. Plus, he's unselfishly been a Mod here for almost a year, so the last thing he needs is somebody dumping on him.
