Because even mediocre coaches return a 2nd rounder. If we had held out that's what we would have gotten too but as usual we had morons running our FO who were too timid to do what was right. Just another move that made us the laughingstock of the NFL.
you mean the same 49ers and Vikings with high draft choice starting QB's? hardly. besides, who cares what's the best fit for Chad -- it's about the best deal the Jets can get.
The Moron was demoted from GM to scout. We were going to fire him and we needed to hire and staff before everyone was gone. Anyone who hates the coaching staff who thinks we should have held out for more would be complaining even more because even less talent would have been available if we had waited longer to hire.
I can not see anyone trading for him. I think he is finished plus his salary is nuts. I would take anything for him. Fatcessca and the idiot thinks we could get a lot better then a 5th rounder. I wonder what people are watching. Good luck Chad and do not let the door hit you on the way out.
Brian Billick threw some high praise at Chad earlier in the year, of course Billick might be looking for a job as well, but with McNair having surgery, Boller's contract up at years end, and no forseeable answer at QB, the Ravens could be a good choice. They could draft a QB, have Chad play for a year or two while tutoring whomever they pick..(Brohm ??) Getting a 3rd might not be so crazy!!
they are watching teams with a good running game and good defense suffer at the hands of a qb that doesnt get the job done and cant manage a game pennington wont win the game, but he wont lose it either (with a solid team) chad will not be anyones franchise qb or go to a place that cant compete right away, but will be a stop gap and eventual backup while a replacement is groomed pennington had success here when he had a defense and running game...this year a struggling defense and poor running game forced the ball into his hands where he is going to fail 9 times out of 10 his insane salary is less of a problem with the new cap and ability to make a clean cut once he is used for his purpose
If Chad goes to KC, he'll be backing up Huard or Croyle. Wherever he lands, he's going to be the backup. Plenty of teams need a backup and he's very capable - we should be able to get at least a 5th-rounder for him.
You guys are all insane. Chads play this season, was directly related to the fact that he suffered a high ankle sprain in week one. If you trade him for less than a third, your next job should be squeegee patrol outside the Lincoln Tunnel.
You are referring to the Chad of 3 years ago in my estimation. He is not that QB anymore. He has had 2 surgeries on his shoulder. He is done.
Teams competing for a SB: NE, Indiana, Dallas and Greenbay. What do they have in common? Chad is not the answer for any team that is serious about contending, he is now a hold the fort guy with limited value.
Tops we'd get is a 4th rounder. I would take a 5th if no other offers popped up. He'd be a good fit for the Chiefs actually. A good running game (by force of will through Herm), and Gonzalez might be a little happier with a QB who can only throw as far as he gets from the LOS. I don't know if the Ravens make a lot of sense for him, but it might work. The Vikes and 49ers could make a play for him, but both should really be looking at the draft for their futures, and neither probably will. While you never want to trade within your division, I would even consider Miami. They have a severe need for a QB, and Chad couldn't make them into a contender anyway. He could also be a viable backup in Houston or Tennessee. Atlanta and Carolina could both use an established QB while rebuilding. Of course the Bears are still a big option, with a dismal situation there. Come to think of it, Eli Manning's days could be numbered too. Why not the Giants? There are enough teams we could trade with. If Tannenbaum plays it smart, and doesn't just jump on the first offer he hears (unless it's for a 3rd rounder or better, which it won't ever be,) he can pull off a 4th rounder. The only monkeywrench is the salary. Wherever he goes, that team is going to want some assurance that he's going to at least compete in camp for the starting role. Maybe Mangini should have given Chad a little time behind center during the 4Q against Miami, to show him off for potential suitors. Then again, maybe the long-term plan is to hang on to Chad as the backup, regardless of cost. I wouldn't count on it myself, but there's a chance that this regime wants to keep a well-liked vet while getting through the growing pains of the rebuilding process.
Y'all are nutzz...Trent Green only warranted a 5th rounder and he has been a better QB than Chan throughout his career. In fact, the Chiefs'll probably only get a 6th because of a playing time contingency in the trade. This means a fifth is going rate and if anyone is willing to offer that or better, we should be happy to oblige.
there is nothing to prove it was directly related to his ankle sprain. two events can occur simultaneously without one causing the other. my dog shit this morning and it rained, that doesn't mean the rain is directly related to my dog shitting. it is just as easy to say his play is directly related to him being another year older, and if so, he isn't getting any younger.
I think Chad is worth more than a fifth. I think Chad is really one of the better QB's that will be on the auction blocks come the end of the season. Plus, the guy didn't get injured this year; it is just that our team was in a funk; not all on him. I think the Ravens will be interested. I also think the Chiefs will be interested. There may be a third team in the mix, too. I think there will be a mini-bidding war for Chad - nothing ridiculous, but Chad will not come for nothing. I think it is at least a 3rd round pick and to me, that seems about right. I actually think that Pennington fits the Ravens much better than the Chiefs. Let us also not forget about the Falcons; they could go after Chad and use their high pick on another need.
His play was related too a crappy O-line, no defense, and terrible play calling. He does have value, but why wouldn't teams wait until he is cut. The Jets are not going to pay his roster bonus.
I think they won't wait because there will be more than one team interested in him. Even though he does not have a rocket arm; he does have command of the game and on the right team he could excell.
