Exactly. There is nothing we did wrong and nothing we could have done. It's supply and demand. The Giants badly need a RB and we don't, at least not bad enough right now to make room at the expense of another position. Case closed.
You would have thought after the Jets released Darian Barnes and Stacy Tutt was placed on IR, the Jets would have brought Ware to the active roster. Now they are stuck with just two runningbacks on the active roster.
Yes, but don't they have about 5 TEs to compensate for the lack of FBs? Perhaps he was not a very good pass blocker?
Yeah, he did have a good camp, and it seems looking back that some of the guys who looked good in preseason have done okay in the regular season- Harris, Clemens, Devito has outplayed Mosley when given the chance. Ware had a good game against the Gnats, and they probably made a note of that when they needed a RB. Banks was signed today- he started off well in TC but then kind of plateaued. But at least they have a RB to play on the scout team. BTW, it wouldnt have been very challenging to find a way to activate Ware for a game or two if they really wanted to see him in real action.
I agree, especially since our record is in the toilet. We know what we have with Jones and Washington, what better time than the last 4 games of the season to give some of those rookies playing time? I wish Chanci Stuckey was still healthy. I'd have loved to see what he could bring to the table in a real game, hooking up deep with Clemens. That's the kind of experience that's invaluable going into next year.
I'm with you guys. Ware exhibited some very good moves and toughness. Good players sometimes fall through the net , heres another one. Hes gone now , and good luck to him , not that I think he will need it.
I think as others have alluded, Ware likely didn't perform well on special teams and blitz pickup. If a 3rd running back cannot do these things, he's not going to be moved to the active roster. The Giants are in need of a back, so it makes sense.
We've been pretty much using TE Joe Kowalewski (40) as a FB. At 260-ish he's a pretty good blocker with good hands. He's helped us punch the ball in several times.. once on the right side against Washington that I know of for sure because I watched it from the stands.
It's interesting that those of us who saw him play and practice were pretty impressed with him. But considering this CS's record on FAs and seeing how they all panned out so well, who are we to question their decision to not play Ware? :rofl2:
Yeah, what is it with us and free agency? When we went after Pete Kendall, I thought I saw a light at the end of the tunnel, only to have it blow up in our faces. But this goes back aways, back to the old regime even. Remember Ty Law, the Rent-A-Whore who commanded huge bucks and then left town? We don't seem to have much success with free agency. Problem is, with our record now, it makes it that much harder. You contact a guy's agent and you're going to hear, "What?.. Who?... Mike Tannenbaum?... Uh... listen Mike, I'm on another phone... I'll have to call you back."
