Hey, watch the game again. The pats were in max protect on nearly every passing down. We couldn't touch Brady with a 10 foot pole. He had all day to throw the ball. Our blitzes were picked up because they had 7 or 8 guys back blocking. There's not much you can do about that.
I 've heard it's only 1 game since 1970 after our SB run. What is troubling here in Tannenbaum's lack of agreesiveness in bringing in as Parcells would say The "hold the fort guys" guys that could plug a hole until you can address either by drafting or Free Agency. As for Revis he has all the makings of a Pro bowl type of DB. The problem here is that the Jets had to give up draft choices that this team couldn't afford to part with at this stage. The lack of a Break out Reciever hurts us as well. All you need to see is Moss in 3x coverage making that catch. Are we headed in the right direction? Right now I'd say we are in neutral at this point of the rebuilding process. see the same run defense as last year. & yds on the 1st down and on the 2nd down the chains have to moved because our safety tacled the RB 8 yds in to the backfield. I"ve had it with Robertson he's taking up a roster spot that could be used for someone who wanys to play!
I don't care if they were in max protect all day, the fact that Brady had years to throw the ball every time we blitzed, I think he touched the turf maybe once all day, even with max protect a blitz should calls him to hurry a throw at least once the entire game, that tells me that we have to upgrade our personnel if we want to be competitive with the Pats again
The problem with that is that this approach led us to cap hell and is partially the reason why we are rebuilding now
no question Kendall wasn't the long term solution - but the Jets did not go out and get a replacement... ...if you check my new thread on the Defensive Gameplan, it might shed some light as to the other issue facing our DLine Sunday versus the Pats.
Aw c'mon, KS, getting a nice win against the Dolfags doesnt change the overall complexion of the season. The glaring issues discussed in this thread have been apparent from the beginning of the season. ricky williams
I don't care who the win was against, it was still a win. Try to enjoy it for a week. If we lose to the Browns you can go back to crying out "DOOOOOMMMMM!!!!"
The sched this year hasn't been tough either outside of playing NE and Dallas. Every other team we played we could have beaten so the sched is not the reason we stink. If we played last year the way we are playing this year we would have been 4-12, 5-11, if we played this year the way we played last year we'd be about 8-4.
It was a nice win. I posted that i thought the Jets would beat teh Dolfags, and I think they'll win this week, too. I guess that makes everything A- OK with what is going on with the team and we cant talk about their needs until they lose a game? Sorry, but i am way past drinking the koolaid on this.
I'm not drinking the koolaid, but I'm not about to sit here and complain about every mistake the coaching staff makes. No CS is perfect except the ones that make deals with the devil (or have Satan himself as the HC). In no way am I saying Mangini hasn't made mistakes, because he has, and has made plenty of them, but I'd rather have a young HC making the mistakes as opposed to an older, more experienced HC making the same types of mistakes. It just seems that even if we were to win the rest our games, it wouldn't matter to some people. Sometimes people get very stubborn in their support or criticism of a player or coach that their opinion will never ever change, no matter how good or bad that player/coach does in the future.
I'd be happy if the Jets win out, but you know, it would just be a similar pattern to last year, when the team finished strong in the second half, but they fell flat the first half of this season. Maybe he needs to put together two good halves of the season before i start jumping up and down over what a genius he is. And you know what, I'll bet that the posters who are critical of the CS arent being any tougher on the CS than the CS is with the players in the film room when they screw up.
