Seriously how good are these two guys, Kerry Rhodes is emerging as a top 5 safety year in and year out, makes plays whenever you need it, sign this guy to an extension FO. David Harris, the Hitman, this guy is a tackling machine, I know Willis has been good, but I bet Harris averages more tackles per game and has more sacks. Harris is sick, now its time to upgrade that D-Line. With some upgrades at the D-line, this defense can be a force, yes I said a force, because Revis has been pretty damn good.

Rhodes hasn't made plays "whenever we need it". Sure, Rhodes shows up and has a great game every now and then, and he could be considered a top 5 safety, but he doesn't make big plays ALL the time. Rhodes is still a good player, and should make a couple of pro-bowls in throughout his career.

Harris should be considered for AFC DROY...Willis WILL win NFC DROY.

Our top two picks have developed into future stars on this defense, we must build around Revis and Harris. Rhodes should be re-signed, and if not, that will be a big mistake by the FO.

    Agreed on both counts.

Harris is a beast, he's been a bright spot on this dark Jets season.

Kerry Rhodes needs to be on this Jets team for the future. He's a very smart & skilled player. Reads the QB's eyes, and makes the plays when you need him to.

Harris, Revis, Rhodes the core of our defense for the next 5 to 7 years.

Interesting how you left out Vilma there.

Yeah, I did that intentionally, I love Vilma and I think he could be a pro bowler if the Jets had a Casey Hampton NT type player to protect him, but I don't know if the FO feels the same way. I hope he stays.

What's Rhode's contract status? 3 picks in the last 3 games... We definatly have some young talent in that secondairy.

David Harris should definately win D.R.O.Y. and Kerry Rhodes should get a nice Extension. A couple of bright spots on our team. Leon and Revis look good aswell.

We have to resign Rhodes....he can be a playmaker for this defense to years to come, the guy is a ball hawk.

Rhodes, Harris and Revis are the people we have to build around. Today showed me how poor the offensive line really was. not like I needed anymore proof

the thing about rhodes is he plays ss so he doesnt necessarily have all the freedom of a free safety because alot of times he covers tes. Rhodes' play has also been hindered because of the lack of fs talent we have

I'd leave Revis out too.. Good player, not a "core" player.

Not a core player? Have you watched the Jets this year. Darrelle Revis came in after missing nearly all of camp, and started day 1 at the number 1 cornerback spot. Not to mention he has played outstanding, limiting many of the top receivers in the game to mediocre games. If that's not a core player, honestly I don't know what is.

He has done amazingly well but at times , surprise surprise , he still makes the odd rookie mistake. He is 'core' in waiting and like Rhodes is a leader I can see also see Revis chipping in with D audibles sooner than later.
I just hope that some of Revis rubs off on the other CBs that he plays with.

Patrick Willis should be defensive rookie of the year as he leads all rookies in tackles with 128 (100 solo) with 4 games to go. Harris is third with 91 tackles (66 solo).

Yeah, I thought he was going to leave Reavis out. I love these three guys. They can say what they want about our drafting, but I'm very pleased with our #1 and #2 picks last year.

Honestly, I think Mangini would be better off as a scout/consultant than he is as a HC.... He has a real knack for finding talent in the draft.... And he has a real knack for nothing on gamedays.....
