Orange Va Tech vs Kansas Fiesta Oklahoma vs West Virginia Rose USC vs Illini Sugar Hawaii vs ? BCS Title LSU vs Ohio State Why the suspense as to who is playing Hawaii. My bet is Georgia because it just seems to make sense. Dammit Fox just show the pairing already.
Okso how bad is LSU going to beat Ohio State? Once again we'll see an Overrated 11 team get killed against a quality team. Oh and can't wait to watch USC whoop up on that other Overrated 11 team.
My guess for Sugar Bowl: Georgia vs. Hawaii. Plus, Missouri vs. Arkansas in Cotton Bowl, per kcstar Damn, I wanted to see Illinois vs. Florida on New Year's Day.
Missouri: beat Kansas (#2); 26th toughest schedule Kansas: beat K State (#24); 109th toughest schedule Missouri obviously won head to head against Kansas and had a much tougher schedule. The Big Ten is rewarded for not having a championship game. The BCS is a joke.
Yeah and Missouri also beat Illinois something else to consider, they are the only team that has beaten 2 BCS teams and yet are on outside looking in. The BCS does suck and the fact that Ohio State and LSU two teams that lost their last home game playing or title shows it sucks. Although based on who LSU the case is better for them than it is Ohio State. Now hypothetically if Ohio State beats LSU and Illini beat SC shouldn't Illinios be #1 since they beat Ohio State? Now those are 2 next to impossible things but it could happen.
The BCS is designed to match the No.1 vs. No. 2 teams. After that, it's up to the particular bowl to decide on its pick. In this case, the Orange Bowl felt a Kansas team playing in its first major bowl in forever would draw more fans - and the kicker: more money. Too bad NO ONE will watch on Jan.3 because it's an awful game. I'd prefer Oklahoma vs. VTech or Georgia, but of course the bowl system fucks it all up with their designated slots.
Some more points to consider: 1. Ohio State was #3 and Georgia was #4. Both teams don't play. OSU ends up #1 and Georgia ends up #5. 2. BCS factors all the formulas into the equation as the games are played. So correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Virginia Tech(#6) ahead of LSU(#7) even with the 48 - 7 scoreline factored into the equation? VT beat #11 BC 30 - 16. LSU beat #14 Tennesse 21 - 14. So why does LSU jump from #7 to #2 and VT jumps from #6 to only #3? And VT finished the season stronger than LSU. Doesn't finishing strong give you an advantage? 3. To reiterate the Missouri situation: like RichMiano pointed out, Mizzou beat Illinois and Kansas. Illinois and Kansas both make it while Mizzou sits at home. No 3 team rule = stupid. Aren't these bowls a chance to showcase the best teams in the country? I guess not.
It's because contrary to what they tell you on Fox and ESPN CFB is fixed. Not fixed to the point that the outcome of games are decided but fixed as to they make the rules up as they go along. They can do what they want when they want. Look I'm not saying Virginia Tech should have a gripe because they aren't playing for the title but I do think Oklahoma should have a gripe because when the talking idiot on ESPN comes out and says that voters didn't take their win over Mizzou seriously because they weren't didn't have the tradition of Nebraska something is wrong. I just don't understand how this team in Ohio State who beat 2 ranked teams both 23, and 24 at the time deserves to play over Oklahoma who beat 2 ranked teams Texas at 17 and Missouri twice at 11 and at #1. Then you have Georgia who has a legit gripe even though they didn't win the SEC East, but they beat Alabama, Auburn, Florida and Kentucky all teams that were ranked at the time. Plus they leaped by LSU and Virginia Tech. The BCS is destroying CFB but the presidents are ok with it because they are making all the cheddar while the fans suffer through another bad BCS title game. Oklahoma
I think the human polls pulled that off. I'm not terribly upset because a two win LSU hammered a two win VT. There is no way we should have gone in ahead of LSU. Now having LSU there is a different story... Here's the thing that really blows. I can call all 5 games right now. LSU, VT, Oklahoma, Georgia, USC. A bunch of those games won't even be close, but I would be disappointed if I didn't call 80% of them right there.
