can you believe that the Patriots are currently sitting in the second spot of next years draft? http://www.footballsfuture.com/2008/nflmockdraft.html If they end up with that pick, it would be hard to see them passing over Mcfadden, unless someone offers them a Ricky Williams like draft day blockbuster. It is safe to assume that the dolphins would not be drafting a running back with the first pick. Our only real hope would be that someone steps up and offers the dolphins a trade they can't refuse... say to move down to 3, 4 or 5. If they drafted Mcfadden, they will be pulling back to back 16-0 seasons for sure, barring major injuries. I can see myself watching less football in the coming yrs, ala the Jordan era in basketball. He ruined it for me back then, and the patriots are close to ruining football... for me.
I can't, because it's not true. A simple look at the standings would've told you otherwise. or you could click on the thread Rambo made in this same forum. http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=24848 that's an old mock draft you posted. San Francisco is currently 4th, but they have the same record as Atlanta and Oakland. Strength of schedule tiebreaker can change.
Regardless of whether or not they get mcfadden, they're going to get one of the best players in the draft. Fuck the Pats.
I hate to say it but there's a reason good teams stay good and the rest of the teams struggle. And it's not that the good teams have people like Belichik and Pioli, it's that the rest of the teams have subpar management. There's only so much real talent in any competitive environment and when a team keeps tripping it's because that team doesn't have it.
They may have no choice but to re-sign Randy Moss seeing that he's a major reason they are so dominant this year. They may shell out big bucks for Asante Samuel. In turn, they may not enjoy having a pick in the top 5. I would not be surprised if the Patriots purposefully do what the Vikings did by mistake a few years ago and let other teams pick in front of them. They are that arrogant.
Now that is just silly! The Pats may not make the pick, but they will turn it into multiple picks with a first later in the round and a future first. That is more their style. The Pats are great at fooling the average team. Remember a few years back when they pulled the ruse making sure everyone knew they were talking to the Bears (the Bears loved the idea of driving up what they could get for the pick) supposedly about Robertson or Sullivan. The Jets and scrambled to make (what turned out to be) a bad trade to move up and get DRob. The Pats sat back and took Ty Warren, the guy they wanted all along.
