We are obviously going to be picking in the top 4 or 5 this year. Which blue chip player in college would best fit our needs? By the way, who else is rooting for the 49ers these days so the Patriots don't pick before us!! That would piss me off bigtime!
http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/ have taking Chris Long at #3. I say take BPA rather than trying to make a player 'fit' into our :clears throat: system. Have to say I disagree with the article as I think he is too small for a DE and don't think he would fit as a OLB
Imagine how nasty he would be if he was big enough to play end? I don't see any reason why he couldn't get bigger. He's the type of player we need at right end.
Yes but most defensive lineman get bigger in the NFL. I don't think I ever expected Brick to get bigger he was expected to be a great pass rusher who was a decent run blocker.
I don't think it's as simple as saying that he's on the defensive side of the ball so he can pack on pounds where Brick can't.
It's not simple but Brick is just a tall skinny guy, If long played at 6 4 290 that would be great. It's tough to tell how much smaller he is then that right now but I'm guessing he's not 280.
Jets 2008 draft pick We will certainly be picking in the top 4 or 5 this off season. Which blue chip player out there will help us the most?
It's Mangini's second year and he led basically this same team to the playoffs this year...mainly because our schedule was weak. He knows what he's doing...just because he doesn't say anything to the press doesn't mean he isn't doing his job. This team has little talent right now, and he is trying to build it the way HE wants. Let him, and if he fails with a "Mangini" team, then we can talk about getting a new coach. He shoudn't be put on the chopping block because of one bad season -- we've lost some close games to better teams and with Pennington our passing game was basically not there. Sticking with the thead title: Vernon Gholston, 'tweener at THE Ohio State University
Gholston, Chris or Jake Long, or McFadden. Unless we trade down and stock up on lineman, both O and D
Take off the green blinders ? this team is losing three out of four games because of coaching ? NOT talent.
There are just so many holes that a few draft picks will no likely help this team. Beside stocking piling picks our Offensive and defensive lines need to be stocking piling pizza/hambergers/hot dogs and whatever telse they an eat to gain weight this off-season. OK back to the thread. I beleive we need a BIG TIME Wide receiver who other teams fear.
I am one of the few people on this board that doesn't have green blinders on...you need to take off your anti-green blinders. It's not coaching, it's execution and none of the players -- especially the linemen -- are getting it done.
