The Mets announced that they re-signed Castro 5 days ago. http://newyork.mets.mlb.com/news/ar...t_id=2300099&vkey=news_nym&fext=.jsp&c_id=nym Edit: quick edit on your part! He was signed for two years, $4.6 million.
Minaya is definitely saving his "trading" chips for a front-line pitcher. Right now this is his starting lineup: Reyes, Castillo, Wright, Beltran, Delgado, Alou, Estrada, Milledge...........NOT BAD. S,S,R,S,L,R,S,R - four switch hitting everyday players.
HAHAHAHAHA!!!! Oh man, dont get too excited just yet. Johnny Estrada is a piece of crap and your gonna find out why this season. First, he has no plate discipline. He swings at the first or second pitch almost everytime and they normally end up as a double play. He killed so many rallies doing this. Second, he cant throw out runners with a lick. I think he went 8/72 last year, something like that. Third of all, he is as slow as molasses. And he gives no hustle whatsoever. He has a poor attitude and doesnt get along in the clubhouse. He just had surgery on his arm and knees this offseason, so we'll see if that helps. This past year has been a nightmare with him and Im as glad as ever to have him gone. I know that this Mota guy isnt anything special, but man Estrada is a piece of crap. Why else would he be with like 4-5 different teams in as many years.I was happy too last year when I found out that we traded for him, but the season is a nightmare. Basically we traded crap for crap. Good luck!
Great deal by you guys but if you thought Reyes antics of jogging to 1B and not giving it his all were bad.......Estrada is pretty up there in that department. He has Lo Duca's negative attitude with the lack of effort. But he brings a solid bat to the town though, just Willie will have to really do something to get Estrada to play.
his batting average is pretty deceiving too---all of his hits and rbis and homers seem to come when the score doesnt matter, he doesnt perform in the clutch, i forgot to mention this above since you guys know mota more than i do, could one of you all give me a brief rundown of him, i thought he used to be good?
that was when he was on steroids think about him this way...you know what gagne was doing to the sox at the end of the season? you now got your gagne
cool beans...anyways, im just happy we got rid of him and you guys seem to be happy you all got rid of Mota, so heres to both players getting their heads on straight and performing
Francisco Cordero after yrs of studness in TEX was getting rocked but then was traded to MIL and was a beast at MIL when playing in their ballpark. I can honestly see Mota doing something similar to that. Be absolutely GARBAGE away but will pad stats at home. Its discouraging to see him stink it up in a pitchers park though.
Let me get this straight. You live in Wisconsin, you could be rooting for Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers, but you choose to root for the Jets? Are we supposed to put any credence in anything you say? By the way, Estrada besides a bad arm and knee last year (both corrected by surgery by Dr. Andrews Oct 4.) also had a bad hamstring last year and was told by the team to not stress it out running to first on ground balls. He also will be playing in 2008 for a new contract as he becomes a free agent after 2008. I like this move - ITS ALL UPSIDE.
He probably moved from the metropolitan area or his dad was a Jet fan. Where you live now doesn't dictate who you root for.
I didn't even see this trade happened until now. Metsblog is my source and it's been down for a few days now. I was driving home from school last night, so it happened while I was in the car. But...I love the deal, Mota is garbage.
Maybe in Willie's mind that's the lineup. In any sane person's head it would go more like Reyes, Milledge, Beltran, Wright, Alou, Delgado, Castillo, Estrada Of course Milledge will probably be traded for some piece of shit 5th starter because the Mets hate him and the fans.
actually no. I have lived in wisconsin my whole entire life and plan to do so once my enlistment is up. Its a long story of how i became a jets fan, but 11 years later i still am. anyways, i dont see how any of this affects the way you believe what i say. I wouldnt come up here to make lies, so whatever happens, happens. Bottom line is i'm just saying this trade isnt as lopsided as it might seem to y'all.
I still remember when we first traded a sack of jock straps for Mota before the '06 waiver deadline and he came in all gangbusters and bolstered the post-Duaner bullpen. Now I'm so happy to see him gone. What a crazy breakneck world.
I don't think it was the juice. He had to be tipping his pitches or something. You don't throw a 95+ fastball combined with a changeup and get knocked around the park like he did in the playoffs and last season.
I only hope that you're wrong, since if not someone will show him how to not tip his pitches and this will be another horrible trade for Omar. Also, if that was the problem, and Peterson didn't know and/or couldn't fix it, he should be fired immediately.
I don't buy this "Mets hate Milledge" stuff. Lord knows Omar has had enough opportunities to deal Milledge yet has refused to do it. Randolph and some others may dislike them, but Omar likes Milledge. If Omar didn't, Milledge would have been dealt a long time ago.
