It seems that the DROY of the year will come down to the two MLBs, Willis and Harris. Willis is ahead right now, but I think by the end of the year Harris will be ahead statistically. However, Willis is a first rounder which unfortunately will matter in the voting. However, if Harris can have a game like he has in every start so far tomorrow on the national stage, I think he can get a big leg up on DROY. I guess it does not matter much, but to be honest, I have not been as impressed by any rookie defensive player on any team as much as I have been by Harris in a long time. I believe he will become Urlacher, Lewis elite at the MLB position over the next couple of years. He is dominant.
The Defensive Rookie of the Year of the year? That's what says. but anyways, I don't know if he will have enough time to win it.
He's played in every game this year, and each week got more and more PT. if he keeps up at this pace he can win it. (I also shake my head at people who just harp on him only starting four games- he's played all season rotating in throughout every game, first starting p/t and now going f/t.)
I think people are just nitpicking when someone gives the total season tackles he has and then says he did it in those starts. I find it amazing what he is doing so far. This kid looks like he was worth a first rounder at this point.
Its amazing that the reports were the Pats were looking to take this kid with the 28th overall pick and he slides into our hands. Good thing hes not playing in Foxboro.
Doesn't Revis have a better chance than Harris? He has started at CB since Day 1, has 63 tackles (7th for CB), 11 passes deflected (22nd) and an INT. I still think Willis gets the nod as he is leading the league in tackles. Leon Hall will also get some consideration with his 4INT, especially if he excels now that he was moved into the starting line-up.
Harris will have more tackles by the end of the year, though, if Harris stays even close to the pace he is on and will be way ahead on sacks.
If Harris can lead the league in tackles after not starting for the first half of the season, then he should win it.
Leading corners in tackles isn't necessarily a good thing. Thats either a pretty big run coming to an end or the receiver catching the ball and then getting tackled. I give Harris better chances than Revis.
If the voters watched the Jets they would know that Revis' tackles are mostly a result of the front seven struggling against the run.
