In what has become a ritual at Jets home games, men at a Gate D pedestrian ramp chant to women to expose their breasts. At halftime of the Jets' home game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, several hundred men lined one of Giants Stadium's two pedestrian ramps at Gate D. Three deep in some areas, they whistled and jumped up and down. Then they began an obscenity-laced chant, demanding that the few women in the gathering expose their breasts. When one woman appeared to be on the verge of obliging, the hooting and hollering intensified. But then she walked away, and plastic beer bottles and spit went flying. Boos swept through the crowd of unsatisfied men. A guard later said they were not permitted to do anything about the chants at Gate D because of free speech laws. This is disgusting! It is harassment. And what kind of Jet fans are they, that they are in the spiral while one of the greatest Jets is being honored. Real fans.

this is typical, this has been going on for quite some time. this is really sad and shows how we are as a people these days. and to think of what these men would say, and these women who do what these pigs want would say if it was their daughter trying to go out and get something around that area. or to even just go and smoke a cigarette. its a really pitiful world we live in.

I sometimes go to games with my sister and brother-in-law. She is the type to laugh it off or joke around. But if ANYONE ever spit at or threw bottles at her, me and my brother-in-law would be flying up those steps and beating the shit out of people. Someone would be going over the railing and I'd be in jail. There is good fun and then there is being an a**hole.
How is it harmless? Especially when they are spitting and throwing bottles at women? While some women might play along, I would bet that a vast majority are made very uncomfortable. Would you have the same reaction if it was your sister or daughter?
This is easy to control. Arrest a half dozen people, including at least one flasher, and publicize the arrests. End of phenomenon. Give the arrested a 10 day suspended sentence and jerk their season tickets. You'll never see that again at a Jet's game.
Exactly - the same stuff goes on at NASCAR races and other big events. A lot of times cash tips are thrown to the girls as well. Most of the girls are amused by it all and laugh it off and a few actually participate. That being said, there's no excuse for bottle throwing and spitting. The idiots that do this cause all the trouble. At most other events, the guys just boo for a few seconds and then cheer on the next one. If I saw someone throwing a bottle, I'd probably punch him out myself.
