Adrian Peterson out at least one game with knee injury
Next up for the Vikings are Daunte Culpepper and the Oakland Raiders.

    Carlos Gonzalez , Star Tribune

Standout rookie running back Adrian Peterson, who hurt his knee against the Green Bay Packers and left the game Sunday, has a torn ligament in his right knee and will not play next week, coach Brad Childress said today.
The injury was the bleakest moment in the Packers' 34-0 thumping of the Vikings in Green Bay.

Childress said that on a scale of 1 to 3, Peterson's tear is a 2-plus. "He's got a tear there," Childress said in his weekly news conference at Winter Park. "The knee is otherwise stable."

As for whether he's ruled out of Sunday's home game vs. the Oakland Raiders, Childress said, "I would think so, yes." Beyond that, the coach declined to speculate.

I have a feeling it's more serious than a 1 week injury. That's really too bad for the kid. You hate to see him, with the season he is having, go down like that.

If I were them and my rookie kickass runningback tore a ligament in his knee, I wouldn't hesitate to sit him for too long during a season where they are not in contention.

no need to play him for the rest of the season. Rest him up and let him recover without injury concern

Noooooooo, why hast thou forsaken me purple jesus?

Oh well, at least I was smart enough to handcuff him with Chester Taylor.
I hope he makes it back for the FF playoffs, screw the Vikings.

He was injury prone in college. This could be only the beginning of a very disapointing string of injuries.

I did that earlier in the summer and I was advised to stay off of it...and like an idiot, a couple of months later, it felt normal again, so I bought a brace and I played a game on tackle football with some college buddies around September and ruptured my ACL. If one ligament is messed up, all of your ligaments are in danger.

If I had a say in the Vikings FO, I'd sign A-Pete up for arthroscopic surgery and sit him out until next year -- they're not going to make the playoffs, why risk further injury.

I have him in all 3 leagues. At least I get Stephen Jackson back in 2 of them.

That injury has nothing to do with college. The same thing or worse would have happened to any RB in the league.

Actually, you're wrong. The injury is related, though indirectly, to his previous injuries. His previous injuries were joint related (ankle, collarbone - which is also called the clavicle and is one of the bones that forms the shoulder joint). The ankle and knee are also centered around joints. What do all of these have in common? They are where the ligaments attach. It has been shown that people that have problems with one joint are at a greater risk to have a problem with other joints, INCLUDING ligament damage. So, this injury is the most recent in a long line of JOINT related problems for our friend Adrian.

I bet he could still run for 600 yards on us with the broken knee.

I think this might be the first of many NFL injuries for Peterson given that he is playing on turf.

Whoa there Donny boy. Give what a break? Expressing my thoughts on a public board in a thread that was made to discuss the Adrian Peterson injury? This is a trend that I have seen. He now has had regular season ending injuries for three straight years. Seems like a disturbing trend to me. The fact that he plays on turf only should compound concerns.

Why don't you give being a d*ckhead a break for a while you adversarial p*ick.

OK, ankle and knee is only two. No way you can call a broken clavicle "joint related" (oh man, that looked funny after I typed it:breakdance: , I wonder how many things are "joint related":breakdance: , anyway), yeah, so broken bone is not really joint related:breakdance: , so you only have two examples, which isn't enough to call him ligament challenged, but 3 big injuries in this short time is enough to call him injury prone for sure.

And turf will help him break down faster...just because he busted himself on grass doesn't mean he wasn't worn down from the rigors of minimum 8 games on turf a year. Add that to the fact that he is ridiculously strong for his size. Have you heard the tales of his measureables...I mean, the dude jumped 3 feet in the air at a standstill with a 100 lbs. dumbbell in each hand. That's what got him drafted on my fantasy team. With that kind of muscle mass on a body not built for it, it's possible that the ligaments, bones, etc. just can't handle what his muscles can dish out.

    Thoughts?
