Yo I think everyone should take a look at this guy . He is listed at 6'0 305 lbs, but in this picture I think he looks bigger. Kiper has him rated as the #3 DT in the Junior class. To me he has the perfect frame for the NT position. I know people have been up and down about Frank Okam. If this guy comes out I say this is the guy the FO takes a chance on. Thoughts?
i say we we look for a quick one-year stopgap/late round project and go after my boy BJ Raji next year. The kid is a beast in the middle and has the perfect size to play in the 3-4. My money says that he'd be a first/early second if he played this year (and maybe my boys wouldn't have shit the bed the last 2 games)
now if dunbar had been playing i KNOW my boys wouldn't have shit the bed the last two games. Dunbar is a smart football player with good instincts, but i dont know how well his success will translate in the NFL. He lacks NFL speed and relies on smarts and great instincts to make plays, might not work in the NFL. If you want to look at BC linebackers in the future, Toal is your guy. And down the road Herzlich (has all the tools and size, starting to play to potential but need to see sustained improvement over next two years) and Albright (not physically intimidating, but he makes the plays and gets the the QB well, needs to put on some serious size if he wants to take it to the next level) could very well end up playing on sundays P.S. I don't know where Kiper has him ranked right now or where he ends up going in the draft, and i know we have more pressing needs, but if Dejuan Tribble ends up sliding to us in the early-middle rounds i say we snatch him up. Very tough physical corner that has a nose for the ball, occasionally too aggressive and gives up a big play but we have very little safety help here for him. Should be a pretty good NFL CB and the thought of him and Revis as our 1-2 over the next 5-10 years could be scary
B.J. Raji has the size to play NT, but there is a lot of baggage, which makes me think Tangini won't draft him, when he comes out. I say that the best shot at improving this D is trading down getting some extra picks and drafting Terrance Taylor, Shawn Crable, and 1-gap DT. I know it sounds like a pipe dream, but hey it might happen.
Baggage? I don't know of anything that would be cause for concern. The only reason he's not playing is because he was declared academically ineligible (at BC, which means he probably would be dean's list with a 3.9999999 at oklahoma, lsu, usc, etc. Any of these football "schools" with "student"-athletes) Other than that i know of no character issues. I've spoken to him personally on a few occasions and he seems to be very level-headed, determined, and seems to have his priorities straight now. He also seems genuinely interested in graduating, and boosting his draft position is not the only reason for staying another year. Compared to the majority of the NFL and even NCAA, this kid is a saint
What I am referring to was his suspension for the first half of the 2007 Clemson game for punching a player during the Central Michigan game. I'm not sure how much this is going to impact his stock, but I would hate to be the guy that got hit by Raji. I'm not saying getting Raji would be a bad thing at all. I just don't know if the FO would or wouldn't take him. It would be great if we could perhaps get Taylor this year and then Raji next year in the later rounds. The NT position would then be set for the next decade.
I apologize i forgot about that, i still believe that it is a nonissue though. He is well spoken and if there is any doubt about his character because of one play, it will no longer be a factor after an interview with him. It is however, WAY too early for me to be talking about this
My uncle and aunt both work at BC they know the kid..the only problem was he took the wrong class and it didn't count towards his major..he is an awesome player I would love us to get him I think he would be perfect.
