Everyone that says we souldn?t draft DMac, always says, we should either go for Chris Long or trade down and get more picks. Here are the reasons why these two thinks won?t work: 1. Lets start with Chris Long, first of all, i think he?s a great player and will have a very good carrer in the NFL. But he?s not a fit for our D, he?s absolutely undersized for the 34. He?s listed at 280, but dropped some weight, and probably plays around 260 now. The absolute minimum for a 34DE in the NFL is about 285 (even Ellis is a little undersized for our D), the optimum weight is around 300. I belive Long dropped the weight, to be a better 43 prospect, and if he did so, he won?t put it back up again, and that means, theres no way he can play DE in a 34 in this League. 2. Trading down, aquiring more picks and beeing able to fix all the problems our D has in one Draft sounds great, but you always need a tradepartner to do so. If we end up with the 3rd pick, we won?t find anybody who picks at 10-15, that is willing to give us value that we have to get for the 3rd pick. Here?s a little Math: Our 3rd pick is worth 2,200 points, if we trade down only 2 spots to #5, our tradepartner would have to give us their 1st and 2nd rounder who have a combined value of 2,230 points. If we trade down 4 spots to #7, our tradepartner would have to give us their first 3 picks which have a combined value of 2,245 points. If we trade down 6 spots to #9, our tradepartner would have to give us their first 6 picks which have a combined value of 2,211 points. And i don?t see anyone that fits our D and is not a giant reach in the top 7 (which means trading down 4 spots and is the lowes, we could realisticly trade down, but even this is highly unlikly). Groves is a player i would like to have here, but he?s not worth a top 7 pick. So trading down is not an option. I say, get McFadden (watch vid in sig), i know he?s not a need, but he is great value and would upgrade our O big time!
We could have the first pick or the eighth pick by the end of the season so why even bother burning brain cells worrying about it now.
i?m just tired of hearing "draft Chris Long" and "trade donw to get more picks to improve the D" talk, in every Thread where anyone mentions McFadden.
Slim chance they'll draft a RB that high anyway. They already owe Jones 20 million. It would see pretty stupid to owe their runnung backs 60 million when everything else on the teams sucks anyway.
yeah, i know. But passing on McFadden to reach about 10 spots for a D player would be stupid, too. It?s kind of a bad year of time to have a top 5 pick for us.
last year was a bad time to have draft picks when we had them too. to be quite honest i see your logic and i do agree. our real needs are not going to be addressed in this draft, they are not there.
german..in case u havnt noticed...the defence sucks...its needs to be improved..mcfadden isnt going to help when the worst running backs are running 100+ yards every game
yeah, i got that. There?s simply noone with top 10 talent, so i think the only option left is go BPA in the first and adress D later in the Draft. if you got a better idea, let me hear it...
and you do? How about enlightening us on your expertise? If the Atlanta Falcons can draft a "can't miss" LB such as Andre Bruce ( heard of him?), then I guess perhaps you can be their general manager. There are no sure things in the draft, Mcffaden case in point. When the Jetsies drafted Blair Thomas, I certainly don't recall anyone really questioning it. As far as the 2007, no team, and I mean NO TEAM, is shivering in their Jerseys about facing a front seven that has more in common with swiss cheese than a brick wall. Draft all the RB's you want, late in the game is where the trenches win the battles and the wars.
I just watched the video, and one thing I liked is that he was fast very fast obviously faster then bush.... but does he do anything else make defenders miss, brake tackles anything ? I mean that may work in college but you see how good speed made trung candidate.... Maybe im wrong, Does he do anything else ?!
He just seems to be faster then everyone else and make crazy cuts. I don't know if he's going to be a great running back getting 5 yards a carry, pass blocking.
If the hype for McFadden blows up like it did for Bush, we could get an offer like the one we almost made for Bush two years ago. I think if that happened, with so many holes on defense, we'd have to take it.
There's no rule that says you're only allowed to trade down once That said, a lot of people disagree with your assessment on Groves not being a top 10 talent.
Nobody is saying we don't need help on both lines, but the draft is more than one round, and there aren't many defensive players that fit our system that would be going in the first round, and drafting a guard or a right tackle in the first round is stupid. Both our lines are not going to be fixed in one offseason, take McFadden if we can, he's the best player in the draft.
I want McFadden.....our team is gonna suck for 2 years anyway, hopefully we'll be able to build a good team by the time McFadden reaches his prime
