Jesus, give it up. If he was so good, he wouldn't need Brady or Manning to throw him the ball. Steve Smith has had garbage at QB in Jake Delhomme for numerous seasons, and he catches poorly thrown balls and turns them into 70 yard TDs.

Laverneus Coles is a good receiver, but he's not elite.

I watch every Jets game. I need to ask you this question though: How many OTHER NFL teams do you watch? because you seem to think the Jets are the best team in the league.

Are you talking about the lame duck jump balls that Penny throws him in the endzone? Those are all nice catches, but they are extremely accurate, they just don't have any zip.

Coles is an NFL receiver, he practices CATCHING the ball and GETTING TWO FEET IN BOUNDS everyday in practice. Any starter in the league could make that catch given the opportunity.

Sorry to break it to you, but Jake Delhomme is actually a pretty good QB. He has something Chad does not, and thats a deep ball which opens up the field for WRs. The field was never open for Coles because of Chad. If you haven't noticed since Jake went down Steve Smith has done NOTHING (minus one good game against the Cardinals) and when I say nothing I mean less then 20 yards receiving a game.

That's because David Carr is arguably worse than Ryan Leaf. Carr is SO BAD on the Panthers and it hurts me inside because I'm a CSU-Fresno alum.

Dude, it's because Mark Brunell is the BEST quarterback in the league.

He has better hands and feet than Brady and Manning!

    You guys are so stupid.

If you watched Jets games you would know that stats dont tell half the story of how good LC is.

I'm done with you guys, you and I both know stats dont even come close to telling the story of LC and how good he is. So why bring them into this? Come on man.....

You're right, I don't watch the Jets games. I just visit this forum every day of the year to talk about a team I don't watch.

I've watched every Jets game for the past I don't know how many years good, bad or ugly. I know LC is good, and I appreciate what he can do. For the record, I'd rather have him than Santana Moss for the reasons you point out.

I also recognize he's NOT better than the guys previously mentioned. If you want to believe he's the best receiver in the NFL go ahead and keep believing that. Some day you'll wake up and smell the coffee.

Is Coles the "best" receiver in the NFL? No I wouldnt say that. I would put him in the top 3-5 as I said in my first post. Would I call him one of the most valuable receivers in the NFL? Yea I think I would, I believe that. With that being said, I do believe he is better then most of the receivers on that list. As I said before, I would not trade him for any other WR in the NFL.

I can not for the life of me understand how you can not agree with that after watching so many Jets games.

It can be in some ways, but they're in Chappelle's racial draft, so...

As for Coles, is there a tougher receiver out there? No. Is there a receiver with better hands out there? Probably, but not many. But there are bigger, faster, stronger, quicker receivers out there who don't disappear in some games and make big plays. Coles doesn't make big plays often. How much of that is Chad's fault, nobody knows. But there is no way his big play ability is as good as the truly elite receivers, and there are a few with better hands out there.

Honestly WR is a position that we need to upgrade. Coles is good but if he is the number 1 on your team you are in trouble.

He is no way an elite reciever. In fact, most teams single cover the guy with minimal safty help. That is a PROBLEM.

coles isnt that tough...he whined about mangini's first camp like a baby.
he isnt that dedicated to this organization....he left for washington and more money.
he isnt a top flight nfl receiver. how many times has he led the league in anything? leave chad out of it, if coles was the playmaking god some fans want to believe he is we would find ways to get it to him, even if we had to snap it to him. he isnt far away from becoming history!!!!

Wow, I didn't expect this much controversy when I posted this thread. All I know is I got my "Told-ya-so" thread ready to go once the KC-LC Connection blossoms.

Incidentally, Randy, Terrell, Braylon, Plaxico, Housh and CJ have all displayed divisive locker room conduct. LC is a captain. Don't put any faith into his training camp complaining, either- I complain about my job everyday but I have yet to ask for a trade. He's been nothing but a responsible leader throughout this terrible season.
