http://www.walterfootball.com/draft2008.php There is a chance that the patriots will pick up darren mcfadden. They hold san fran's pick. In order to avoid this we must pick up Mcfadden and run a two-headed monster. Imaging the pats with mcfadden(=peterson), with the talent they have already. They will be more than unstoppable.
OK i agree with Dwalsh here, the pats have a Maroney, but he hasn't been phenomenal and If Mcfadden is to become this great NFL beast, he will be taken by New England. Also don't be shocked if Mcfadden is one of the top 2 taken in the draft, With what adrian peterson is doing, people may see Mcfadden in this mold, and he could very likely fly right up the boards just because of that fact, they want the next AP. Remember how TE's shot up the board the first 2 years after Shockey was drafted? Simply because they were good, but the team was looking for the next Shockey... Also I hope we don't take Mcfadden, we should trade down somebody will pay big money for him, if he is there at our pick. I think if we have a top 5 pick, we should try to drop back to 7-8 and take Chris Long, then we have some stockpiled extra picks, and everything is looking well. Besides I don't see mcfadden as this Runningback god. The past 2 years a RB has been highly touted, Reggie Bush, and Adrian Peterson both taken high, and it seems likey AP is the real deal and Bush is the lightening part of a thunder/lightening rotation. With AP being so good, History states that Mcfadden won't be nearly as good simply because the chances of two guys with "untappable" potential panning out in back to back drafts is next to nothing.... Draft Chris Long....
Chris Long is NOT a 3-4 end just because he plays 3-4 in college. Take McFadden, he has the most value at that pick.
Of course Long being a 3-4 guy in college means nothing to his pro transistion. You could also argue that just Because Mcfadden is a RB in college doesn't mean he wont be a reciever in the Pros. Now we both know that Mcfadden will be a good running back in the pros because he was a great Rb in college. Now if you can come up with a better argument than "Long played the position in college, therefore he wont play there as a pro" i think I would still like to take Chris Long after a drop down to the pick 6-7-8 range, thank you very much.
how bout that: he?s listed at about 280, probably plays at around 260 now. The absolute minimum to play DE in a 34 in the NFL is 280 and that?s already undersized. I belive he droped those pounds to be a better prospect for the pros. If he did so, he won?t put them back on again, if he?s not at least 280 he?s way undersized and absolutely nor a fit for a 34 DE in the NFL. Now give me your reasons, y you think he is a fit!
Now I am not going to make exact comparisons here due to the fact that Hershall Walker was not a draft choice, but the similarities do appear to be a bit striking. By obtaining five veteran players and eight draft choices from Minnesota for Walker, the foundations for the Cowboys' return to glory had been set. Hey, if McFadden is that good, take the picks and build a defence.
Ditka also gave up his entire draft for Ricky Williams. I think GMs have learned from those mistakes.
I would normally say we have too many holes to fill to worry about a running back. But I'm starting to think that McFadden is the type of guy we can build our team around over the next few years. We should trade Vilma, Coles, Robertson, and Pennington if we can. That will help us fill the other holes we have on D. I kinda want McFadden!!
Where have you been in the other threads where we've been discussing that possibility? As for the mock draft, there are a lot of things I don't agree with ... ie, falcons not taking brohm if he's there, dan connors falling to the second round -- the giants will snatch him up. I do like us getting Chris Long, the more I think about it, the more I think it will happen.
