    Who is better?

I hear a lot on this site about Long, but why is he better than Campbell? Is it just because Long already plays in a 3-4?

    Educate me.

I don't know if he's better. I do know he is a monster tackler on top of being a pass rusher and sack artist. You don't usually see that many tackles coming from that position. Besides, he has it in his genes.

I think overall, in terms of potential, Campbell is alleged to have the better upside, but I really don't think he can play 3-4 DE, he's more of a Sean Ellis kinda of rusher in a 4-3. Long is a MUCH better fit for the Jets.

This is coming from a guy that said in another thread Chris Long isn't a good fit for the Jets because he's "too small"...

Calais Campbell is nothing like Shaun Ellis. They are both 4-3 ends, but Campbell is 6'8. He's so tall. Campbell is also way more athletic than Ellis.

Long has the lineage and his number are unfair to the rest of the NCAA. He can be an impact pro immediately and because of his 3-4 experience if we can get him we will

Campbell might stay one more year because his #s blow this year as well.

Dude, you're seriously a moron, you really are. this was my comment...

"I'm as big a Long fan as there is out there, but he's a tad too small for the already undersized 3-4 the Jets run. Give me Quentin Groves to rush the QB at OLB for the Jets and I'll be happy."

That was the point I attempted to prove. I love Long and would not be mad AT ALL if he was a NY Jet, I just feel, that our defense is undersized enough, and having enough troubles, that it would make more sense to draft as sure a thing as their is, and fill a gigantic need in a pass rushing OLB, rather than draft a slightly undersized DE. Yes, he plays in a 3-4 in college, but the collegiate 3-4 is SO much different than the NFL 3-4, all college players are much less in weight etc.

Calius Campbell is a freak of nature, but he flat out can't make any plays. He's extremely slow off the snap (he's usually the last on the d-line to move). He constantly over-shoots his gap, which leads to running backs finding gaping holes; not to mention he can't get any sacks. He also has no pash rush moves. Chris Long has above average physical features, nothing special, but he makes the most of it. His pash rushing moves are amazing. And he controls his gaps extremely well. If only he was bigger...

Said perfectly, this is the point I've been trying to make entire time, but for whatever reason, McElectric can't comprehend it...

Way to miss the obvious Roger Vick reference, but yeah, MrElectric29 isn't the lamest user name on any forum ever or anything, really.

    But thanks for your input.

    But thanks for your awesomeness.

wow um rather than making fun of each others names can we stay on topic please. Chris Long i think will be a stellar pro by year 2, he will show lots and lots of flashes as a rookie, and as others have said, he just makes the most of everything he has and his motor never quits, the Jets need another guy on defense like this. this is why I say when we have a top 4 pick and Mcfadden is in our laps trade down to 7-8 and basicallu commit highway robbery in pick collection for Mcfadden, then take Long, by snagging all the extra picks and Long, as long as we do fairly well with the extra picks, the trade will look great for us no matter how good Mcfadden becomes (this is of course saying he doesn't become a HOF runningback, other than that, all is well)

In most mock drafts Long is currently projected to go in the top 3.

14 year old kid that thinks he knows everything...

Right now, the Jets need to either draft Long and another d-lineman and start building our defense around Long, Harris, Revis, and that other selected lineman, OR do all it takes to get Darren McFadden.

  18. Campbell maybe a better fit based on size and upside. But he needs alot more work w/ his technique. He doesnt know how to his hands at ALL.

Thanks for the replies. Well, except for those two guys who seem to really enjoy each other's company.

The point of this thread was basically that when I see Campbell's size (6-8 285) I want him on the team, but everyone seems to think that Long is better. Obviously, I don't spend much time watching college ball.

We'll probably be in position to take these guys, just wondering what the experts thought.
