Why so quick to get rid of Vilma? I'm posting this for the second time: even with a monster game by Harris, we still gave up 296 rushing yards. This is not an ILB problem, as evidenced by 24 tackles by Harris, many of which were near the line of scrimmage. Vilma is a good cover LB, better than Barton (Cooley open a lot yesterday?) and Harris-Vilma would be better than Harris-Barton. The problem is our 3 down linemen and 2 OLB's get blown off the ball on every play. Every play. You can block Hobson and Thomas with TE's or fullbacks and double whichever lineman you choose. And they get obliterated. This is not even taking into account the complete absence of a pass rush (Hobson and Thomas again). Did I mention that I think our OLB's are the problem?
Chris Berman just announced David Harris as one of the defensive player of the week nominees in "the Jets most recent come from ahead loss".
Mike Fatass on the FAN tried to pass it off saying they gave up 300 yards rushing so big deal. But 24 tackles is a huge deal. Particularly when you see that Victor Hobson had 3 and the BT Local had 6. Harris was covering for their misses. Marty Lyons had an interesting point on the radio. He said that the Skins were cutting back all day and that the backside LB and Lineman had responsibility for those cuts. Looking at Hobson's and BT's totals, we can see why they ran wild.
