Your really taking the Chad benching to the point where your not even coherent in your reasoning. If you can't see the diff between Chad and Clemens I don't know what to tell ya. If Chad were in the score would have been 45-6!
Even if they did drop his passes, did we blame Chad himself for the dropped passes? Probably not... well you probably did...not surprising!
Negatives: - didn't get the Jets in the endzone enough - threw a few high/wide passes, i.e. needs to get more accurate - had at least one panic heave that could easily have been intercepted Honestly, I didn't see too many negatives for a QB getting his second career NFL start against a good defense without a significant running game.
Clemens is the QB. I am just not gonna pretend that all is well in Jets land. I didn't see much long term potential, I would just assume go with a FA retread next season.
yes, lets build through FA...because all good QB's that we find in free agency are successful. seriously, how many extra 21st chromosomes do you have?
The coaching, if he had the talents so described, why not open it up? I feel this whole team is a fraud right now, from the GM/Coach right to the QB of the future.
very juvenile, but what can we expect from you... Clemens was good, in his 2nd start, against a great Skins D, w/o Coles. Thats as far as it goes...Im not going to say hes the QB for next year for sure, but if he plays this good, and continues to develop then the job is his to lose for next year... saying that the only good thing about him is that hes not Chad is a severe case of dilusion, and of course the condition forementioned above...
See post #19 for my reason why they didn't open it up. In addition, if the CS didn't have confidence in him, they would have run a the same gameplan they ran for the first 3 quarters of the Ravens game . (Run-run-run-throw if you have to.) Homeboy hucked it 39 times yesterday, even on 3rd-and-1 in OT. Regardless, your above argument is inconsistent. You essentially say that the coaching staff is smart enough to not let KC open it up b/c he is not capable (thereby arriving at your conclusion that KC is Glen Foley) Then, you say that the GM/Coach is a fraud. Which is it? The coach sucks and mishandled Clemens or Clemens sucks and the coach was doing a great job not letting him "open it up"? I really don't think you can make an accurate assessment over 2 games for a QB. Yes, he looked like crap the first 3 quarters against the Ravens. Yes, you can even discount the 4th quarter as the Ravens were playing soft to protect the lead. However, I find it hard to believe that you watched yesterday's game and didn't see a lot of positives out of Clemens. You certainly didn't see the big negative from him -- crucial turnovers.
Excluding the Pats whooping they put on them, they would be a top 5 D in the league...that would be great... tell me Shade, what didn't Clemens do that you wanted to see. Answer me that, otherwise this debate is over, you have to substance to your off the wall arguments....clearly another emotional Jets poster who cant contend with reality...
sorry dude, that was on the defense...What portis did to us was unacceptable...and I thought you were smart enough to know that...I guess I was wrong...
I thought the reason we couldn't run under Chad was that the defenses were stacking the line and putting 8 or 9 guys in the box and daring Chad to beat them, which almost everyone around here claims he can't do. People said we needed a strong-armed QB to open up the running game. So Clemens gets in there, he of the strong-armed variety of QB. They still put 8 or 9 guys in the box to stop the run and dared Clemens to beat them deep. They still didn't throw it deep, but now it's because he didn't have time because he was being blitzed. But Chad was never blitzed, right? Wrong. Did anyone stop to think that maybe, just maybe, it's the playcalling more than the QB who's back there? Kellen showed me a lot with his escapability, but I was still sitting there in the stadium watching mostly the same plays being called by the OC as he was calling with Chad behind center.
Dude, stop nitpicking. The team is atrocious and you're lambasting Clemens over 8 quarters of play against respectable defenses? Yes, the coaching staff is not who they were last year, and the defense is solely to blame for yesterdays loss, but we won't know what kind of QB Clemens is until he plays a full season. But so far, i haven't seen a QB play like that in his 2nd start. Ever.
it's not like we are abandoning the game plan just because we switched qb's but kellen looked good and remember he does'nt have to be great right now.
There are very few people here that believe Chad is THE REASON why the Jets were losing. However, it is hard to deny that his poor play contributed greatly as he is the QB. Did you ever stop to think that it is hard to install a new offense in one week with a QB that you have only committed to for that game? Of course the gameplan was going to be the same / similar. Of course the playcalling was going to demphasize the run in the second half for no particular reason. Of course, playcalling has been a problem all season long in this fan's opinion. Beyond escapability, I think you saw some of the throws that Chad couldn't make on display yesterday. The on-the-run flick 20 yards for a 1st down, the quick out to Leon on third down. Also, you didn't see the killer INT late in the game. In fact, you didn't see any turnovers from the new QB which was a huge problem for Chad over the last four games.
