Its all falling into place for the Mets. AROD announced on the last night of the World Series he was opting out. YOU THINK he likes attention? Where is he going to get more attention, in ANAHEIM or New York City? AROD and his wife were looking at homes in Greenwich, CT. in August. If Yankees stupidly keep to their mantra and will not negotiate with AROD since he opted out, AROD will find his new home in MET land.

Both are allergic to the postseason. Seems like a great match. Now, if only One Third will come back, it will be a perfect offseason.

We will have to take knives away from Yankee fans in 2008, when Jose, AROD, and Wright singlehandedly slay the Great Red Sox Machine.:breakdance:

Alex Rodriguez is in Fred Wilpon's owners box right now. You should see the smile on the face of David Wright......

Why would he be in the owner's box now? I would think Wilpon has a separate office. And what the fuck is Wright smiling about?

He would not have opted out if attention is what he most craves. He would get more attention playing for the Yankees than for any other team.

This thread sucked out of the box. Therefore, it must be Glavined. Oh yes, it must.

Cakes. thats a stupid comment. the Yankees were going to pay him 150,000,000 for 5 years. he can get 350,000,000 from the Mets with no opt out clause. the Mets are working out a deal with Citibank as we speak to get them to pay 20,000,000 a year, and have CITIFIELD as the place to be for the next 10 years; in person and on national TV. AROD is only going to costs the Mets 15,000,000 a year for the next ten. You think the Wilpons became multi-millionaires by being stupid?

    No way

The mets have made some bad free agent signings before, but they can't be AROD money stupid. Unless of course Isiah has moved on to baseball.

OK Frank, I know you don't make many predictions; but here is one:

"I would have to say at this point, Anthony Schlegel is more than likely the second coming of Brian Urlacher.

Huge mistake getting rid of him."

If you read on further down the page of that thread, I explained that I was being sarcastic. But good try.

It's ok to dream but the Mets need starting pitching way more then they need Arod.

We've been down that road before.... when the best pitcher on the FA market is Kyle Lohse you need to concentrate on improving in other areas.

The FA's next year are monsterous.....

Finally, some indication that the Mets are at least considering moving Reyes to 2b, which makes a hell of a lot more sense then putting Wright there.

Yeah, but if you pay Arod 35 million now how do you pay for pitching next year? Then how do you pay Wright and Reyes in a couple of years when they become arbitration eligible? Oh wait now you are over the cap so Arod's 35 million becomes 49 million. Do you start to see why people are so hesitant of him? The Yankees 30 million dollar offer was really 42 million from day one.

That's a ridiculous mistake. A-Dick is too big now to play SS. Reyes would still be the best SS on the time, so you keep him at SS.

This Mets franchise is a fuckin' joke.
